From a professional standpoint do you think that if you have visible tattoos it will hinder your chances of getting a job? Also if it did come down to it what do you think would happen if lets say you had two people with tattoos interviewing for a job in which the tattoos would be visible, and one had a tattoo of skulls and crossbones, and other "dark" images, and the other had a fish and waves and very colorful images. Do you think that employers look at things like that? Such as if you have a visible tattoo and whether or not the image is appropriate? what do you think about these ideas?

First, yes. Employers DO notice if the piece IS noticeable. But, the good news is, society is coming around on ink! Think about it, 20+ years ago, only "gang-members" and the like were tattooed. Now, it's pretty trendy to be tattooed; more of a norm - ya know?
Now, about the "dark" tattoos. I think it is human nature to judge the two applicants like that. Unfortunately, the person with the "dark" tattoos would get looked down upon regardless of their qualifications or overall demeanor. It's just human nature, sadly.
So, if you want tattoos you have two choices:
1) get them, and who cares what happens after that - search until you do find someone to hire you (keeping in mind: times, they are a changin!).
2) Don't get them, and don't worry about the hiring dilemma. *sad face*

I would hope the employer would not base his judgement solely on the art work the people had, but their qualifications instead. However, people do tend to look down on tattoo's in general. So I would guess that if it was me as the employer the one with the better art work would get it!

Hi there AC onn!
Here in the Philippines, it will be a hindrance unless you have a really influential backer and exceptional resume.
There may be a couple of exceptions when you're applying for an art related job.

Speaking from someone who has both wrist tattooed, yes employers do look at this. And yes I woul believe that even if two people applied for the same job and had visible tatts one being the dark the other being light and free.. well the employer would probably pick the most pleasant to look at.
People will say this isn't true, but it really is.
