Pulling Troops out of Iraq

United States
November 2, 2006 2:26pm CST
I know there is tons of discussion going on about people wanting to start pulling troops out by the end of the year. I know that I would love to see this happen so that my husband, other members of my family and lots of our friends would not have to go again. I think a lot people would like to see this happen but I am not sure that it is the best thing for Iraq...What do you think???

Part of the reason we are still in Iraq is, if we leave, it will send that country into a civil war and become a safe haven for the same terrorist groups that have no problem attacking us on American soil. As much as I would love to see our soldiers home safe, I can see why their mission is an important one.

Thanks for the comment. Has he deployed more than once? That seems like an awful long time for him to be there in one stretch!!!

I don't think the troops should have been in Iraq in the first place but it's happened so we have to deal with the consequences. We can't just go in and devastate a country and then walk away from it. We have an obligation to the Iraqi people now. We made the mess so we have to sort it out and personally I think we are talking in terms of years rather than months.

I agree with the fact that we have an obligation to Iraq now. I also think it will probably be years instead of months. Thanks for you input!!!

Many of my friends and family are in Iraq and I want them to come back home. Too much blood has been shed already, it is time for our troops to come home.

I wish they could come home soon as well but aren't you worried about what would happen in Iraq after we were gone or that they may attack us in our homeland again. They could see us leaving as they defeated us and come after us again!!! Thanks for your input!!! Different views is what makes this interesting!!!

sorry but my opinion is, not until bin laden is a confirmed kill, this would break terrorists wills and maybe prevent another 911 for 10+ years or more...

I also agree that they need to make sure he is a confirmed kill. I was reading on another discussion that someone thought we should let Saddam go. I think that is a crazy idea considering all the lives and blood that was lost capturing him!!! Thanks for the comment!!!

We are always so worried about what is best for some other country. Isn't it about time to worry about the problems in our own country and give them priority?

I think that Sept 11 made this a problem in our country!!! Therefor I would rather they take this fight to another country than fight it on American soil with the terrorists coming here!!!

Oh I would like to see it too...those poor boys and girls too...no-one should have to go through that hell...I for one do not understan any of it....I feel sorry for those people over there but so many lives have been lost and I can't help thinking ...is it worth it...things will never change over I don't think as it is more like a civil war and well it looks like they are fighting themselves...bring those kids home I reckon...we all tried and I guess didn't really win...who knows what was meant to be.....

I think that if it will save our troops from dying then they should pull them asap.

I believe that we need to think beyond the fact that our troops are dying. If we leave Iraq now and leave their country in such disaray I fear that the battle may be brought to american soil once again. Thanks for you post!!!
