No, I leave my computer running and turn off the monitor. It is usually doing something even when I am not at it.

I always leave my computer on when i'm asleep. The noise doesn't bother me at all so i just leave it on unless the forecast says there will be bad thunderstorms overnight or the next day. Then i might turn it off when i go to bed but generally i live it on when i'm asleep.

mulau_ I use AVG. I check the results in the morning. Whatever it picks up, the program automatically either cleans the file or sends it to the virus vault. I don't have to do anything!

I always shut my computer(s) down when I am sleeping... more out of habit than anything else. For some reason, it also makes me feel like I have a fresh start rather than coming back tot end to what is left of yesterday. It's more of a personal feeling than anything else. I will leave it on and put it in sleep or hibernate mode occasionally when I have I something unfinished that I know I won't feel like going through the time and trouble to set up again until it's complete though.

what was i do is i clear all the history the recent files, remove any file on the recycle bin, easy to say i use ccleaner to make everything clear before i go to sleep, cause i don't want someone know my private works at computer. then in morning my computer run fast as usual, that is the basic thing why i always turn my computer if it really need to be shut down at night.

computer - I always turn off my computer when I go to sleep at night, but I don't if I have a nap after lunch.
Hello dear mulau. I always turn off my computer when I go to sleep at night, but I don't if I have a nap after lunch because I would still use it for a short while after getting up from the nap if I still have some time available before going to work.

Yup..I turn it off and take the cord out of the wall when I go to bed. even turned off, but with the cord in the socket, the compuiter still draws out 30 percent of the electricity you use when it's on. But totally unplugged..adds up on electrical savings. Want to save on your electric bill? Unplug and take the cord out of the wall. Not only will you save, but if there would be a storm at night and lightening would hit, you could end up saving your computer. (Even with a surge protector, a computer can be ruined with a strong lightening strike!-It happened to us here, so we can guarantee that!)

i do not know that it still draws 30% of the electricity, next time i will unplugged the cord. yeah in the big city lightning often happens so we have to take care about that.

Oh, yes, I turn my computer completely off when I go to bed. I also turn it off when it's done doing its virus scanning and I am going to be out for a long period of time. I've had problems going into sleep mode on this computer because of some of the programs that I run, so I don't let it do that. I don't want to prematurely wear out my computer and I don't want to waste electricity on something that I am not using.

I would only turn off my computer if I have to leave it alone for more than two hours. So I don’t turn it off before going to have my 40 minutes or so afternoon nap. I usually will turn off my computer and unplugged the connecting wire, before going to work in the afternoon and before going to bed at night. I was told that if the computer is to be switched on 7/24, would shorten the lifespan of it.

that for sure to keep our electric energy safe, one thing that you have done the right job is, when you unplugged the cord from the cpu the first safe thing you do is avoid from thunderstrom or lightning effect. that a job or habit :)

When I go to sleep, I just leave my computer on. My husband works abroad and we have different time zones, so I have to stay online because we usually talk about 3 a.m. before he goes to work.

sure i will do the same thing if my wife is away from me then the only way to keep in touch with her is my computer, maybe you should program it when to shut down and when it will turn on automatic, if you want to turn on you computer automatic with scheduled time you shuld find it on BIOS, or you can search for help.

Sometimes we shut it down and sometimes we don't. My husband has trouble sleeping from time to time so he gets up and either gets online or watches tv. Since the computer does a virus scan on boot up it takes awhile, which irritates him, so if he feels that he might be up later, he leaves it on.

Hi mulau2u, after using computer I always see to it that it was shut down properly., and I unplug all electricity after using it because I am preserving electricity. Also one of the reason is for safety measures. Before going to bed or going out I am checking all appliances, especially computer and after checking and unplugging it that's the time to sleep or leave the house.I am practicing this techniques to be practical.Thank you!
