My poor Kitty is sick. . . Why you should take your kitty for a checkup

I just had one of the worst days of my life. I took my kitties in for a yearly checkup--yes I am crazy like that--I really love my cats. Since my old vet closed, I took them to a Cat only vet--the idea being they would know more about cats and their illness and there "catch" more problems early enough to treat.
Well, miss Ashley, the pretty kitty who is my avatar, wheezes a bit, and she was making an awful noise breathing the other day--sort of what got the gears going for this vet visit. I told the vet that she was not breathing well, and the vet thought she might has asthma. If you take a X-ray of a kitty there is a pattern in the lungs that shows up if they have asthma. So my poor little kitty has to go through some process that involved a tank, to get the x-ray.
They read the x-ray and here comes those words you never want to hear as a loved one or a pet owner--the vet/doctor wants to show you something on an X-ray. Thats always bad. Seems my kitty has an enlarged heart--and she is so young to have a condition like that. I have been worried/depressed/crying all day. She is my little baby.
Anyways we are going to a pet cardiologist (heart doctor) tomorrow taking blood test results and the x-ray with us. I didn't even know there was such a thing as a pet cardiologist before now. So if you would, pray for my little kitty to get well.
And to make this a real discussion. Did you know about pet specialists? There are eye doctors, skin doctors, just all sorts of pet health specialists. And do you take your pets for a yearly check up?
PS Carlye is fit as a fiddle unless something weird shows up in her blood tests.

Aww--Aurone I'm so sorry to hear that Miss Ashley has a heart problem--I've been quickly scanning things about enlarged hearts in kitties...there are a few natural supplements that may help..they are here--the second link is a bit expensive

You might want to read this..

Besides regular meds that might be giving to her, is your vet "open" to natural remedies..some vets are
My prayers go to you and of course to Miss Ashley--
No I wasn't even aware that their were such things as specialists for different problems for cats.

Thanks for the links and the info, I haven't ask the vet if she is open to natural remedies or not. Right now we are just trying to figure out what is wrong. Seems her heart is not as much as problem as her lungs and they don't know what has caused her abnormalities. The specialist is going to brain storm with other specialists and give me some more info tomorrow.
Right now poor little Ashley is sleeping soundly as she as has had two stressful vet days in a row. Poor kitty.

PS--I have this great book called The New Natural Cat by Anitra Frazier...it's almost my "bible" for natural cat remedies, and sure enough she has a section about enlarged hearts and what she recommends...if I can, I'll scan it for you, and email it as a PDF attachment since I have your email...it's way too long for me to type out

After looking at some new x-rays, it appears her heart isn't that enlarged, but she does have a heart murmur. What they did find is she has some sort of abnormality/damage in the lungs and they aren't sure what it is or what cause it. My poor little baby. Sorry about your kitty. I wouldn't give my Ashley up for nothin'

I'm more likely to take my cat in for an annual check-up than go myself. He has an eye-disorder that requires constant care, and I've been lucky to have had a great vet to help care for him. He is happy and healthy aside from his eye, which doesn't seem to bother him in the least. Hope your kitty is OK, best of luck.
