This reads like something out of a futuristic science fiction society gone mad novel. Does anyone believe that in Oregon finacial assistance is available for some terminal cancer patients to kill themselves but no money is available for treatment? Can this possibly be true? http://www.lifesitenews.com/ldn/2008/jun/08060402.html I find it hard to believe. What do you think of this?

This is just a sign of things to come. I don't find it surprising in the least, after all we are constantly being bombarded with the statement that there are too many people in the world anyway, and therefore the more we can get rid of the better off the rest of us will be. I have seen little whispers of suggestions about doing away with the old and infirm to help with SSA costs and such other things, so this doesn't surprise me in the least. Isn't it funny how a few short years ago, Kevorkian was the devil incarnate, yet now we see something like this, and it is considered a normal policy... and a State policy at that. So now we know... THE STATE really does want to kill us. Big Brother would be so proud.

I can't help it. I am surprised. I thought at first the article was satire of what government sponsored and controlled health care could lead to. Instead, the article is real? Wow.

See, Big Brother is a step ahead... as usual. I believe that given enough time they will think of everything, and none of it good.

As an objective person, I have to concede observable facts support your position.

I think there should also be funds available for treatment but of course that would be too expensive. I did say ALSO because I agree with the idea of financial assistance for someone who is terminal and wants to die with dignity instead of suffering horribly for who knows how long. Annie

That is what it sounds like to me. It is just cheaper to kill the than to treat them. Just one more reason not to allow the Government to take over health care. Just imagine if the government health care system's budget was low on money. At the same time you came down with cancer, a very expensive disease. Government would not be able to afford to treat you, and killing you would be a cheaper option.

I gotta agree with you. I know that in the US ARMY every piece of equipment has a manual that helps to decide when it is uneconomical to repair or fix that equipment. If the government runs health care, they very well might parcel out medicine like the US ARMY parcels out spare parts.
