Separation anxiety

We just moved into our house and have moved our dog in with us. However he suffers from separation anxiety. We had a large crate for him but he managed to escape it and tore up the molding around the front door. He also tore up the siding when we left him outside(he has an electric fence to contain him). Just wondering if anyone else has had dealings with the same kind of thing. We got him on some medications that is supposed to help cure this but won't know for a few days. So I just wanted to see if anyone had any good ideas that we could try. Thanks!
