Buddha's desire to extend his religion
Buddha wasnt wanting to extend ANY religion...he was a man who wanted to share his long learned philosophy of life with others so that they may attain enlightenment as he did...
that being said, Buddhism isnt a religion (though many refer to it as one), its a Philosophy and yes a wonderful one...
wat are all the good princilples they should follow?
Well Buddhism isnt as simple as making a list of no no's if that makes sense....on a very basic level, its based around whats called the 4 Noble Truths which are
1st - all life is suffering meaning you cant truly live without suffering somehow, someway
2nd - all of our suffering is due to cravings we have for things we want be it popularity, money, material items etc etc
3rd - we are capable of overcoming our suffering and attain true happiness
4th - is the 8 Fold Path or Noble 8 Fold Path which is Perfect Understanding, Perfect Thought, Perfect Speech, Perfect Action, Perfect Livelihood, Perfect Effort, Perfect Mindfulness and Perfect Concentration. The purpose is to practice these until they become a natural part of living, when that happens you will have freed yourself of your suffering and have a perfect understanding and grasp of the truth of existence..
