What makes a poem a poem?

Ok so some people wants to write poems but they dont know how..
well i have some tips for those people who wants to write poems...
1.)words dosent need to rhyme! - in writing a poem u can use words hat dosent really rhyme.. why? because u dont need to be a writter to write poems all people can any age! because writting poems is a one way of expressing ur feelings! and it is also a nice hobby to do.
2.) write your feelings - u should write poems on how u feel like if you feel sad , happy , lonely , etc...
one way is when ur happy put some happy things in your poem (hehe)
u guys can also add tips here if you guys want so we can expand the world of poetry to more people...

Thank you for the tips on writting poetry. You are very right. I do write poetry, however I do not say I am really good at it.I love poetry, because it is a release for me, a way of getting my feelings out.Things just pop into my mind, and i will put them down on paper.I write poems about so many differant subjects,love,loneliness,god,parents,injustice,the list is really endless.
