I flew back from California a couple of months ago and I missed a fligh! The second leg of my flight was from Minnapolis to Kansas City a 1.5 hour flight (or 8 hours drive). I was suppose to catch my flight at 5pm but when I arrived at Minnapolis airport I didn't realized my cell phone watch didn't adjust the time accordingly. It adjusted the clock for only 1 hour. So, needless to say I thought I have plenty of time to hang out and take it easy. When the time came I approached the ticket booth and she told me I just had missed my fligh 15 minutes ago. I was so distress and extremely unhappy. She continues to tell me that the next flight won't leave there again until tomorrow 6:50am the next day! My circumstances just went from bad to worse. I have to pay the extra $100 buck and spent the dang night at the airport. It was miserable, I could of get a hotel but I would have to leave and get up really early to get to security and it wouldn't be worth it. So, I decided to tough it out and try to make myself comfortable, I have no one to blame but myself (Stupid watch!) and the cellphone. The next day I got up and went to the gate 2 hours ahead of time and no I did not miss my fligh this time.
Do you have a case or period of despondency or miseries during your "air" travel?

Oh yes. A few years ago I decided to go to South Carolina from New York right after Christmas. I figured this way I could miss most of the Christmas rush. So it starts snowing. I live an hour from Buffalo, NY so this is not unusual. I have a friend drop me off at the airport early because they had started with the new security checks. I sit there and watch the snow really start to come down. They start delaying flights. A while later they start canceling flights. My flight is still good to go. Finally they shut down the airport and all flights. I am an hour from home, my luggage is on the plane, I have no way to get home. I go to the pay phone and was lucky enough to get booked on a flight a few days later.
So I call my niece who luckily works nearby. She says no problem, grab a cab here and I will take you home. I leave without my luggage because I wanted to get out of the city before it shut down. There are no cabs because the roads are so bad. I finally find a cabbie who will give me a ride because he is going home and it is on the way. I get to where my niece works and it is closed and everyone is gone. I have a light jacket on because I was expecting South Carolina weather not Buffalo weather. At this point I am so mad. Again, I get lucky and there is a pay phone outside. I had left my cell at home because I decided to take a "real" vacation. I get on the phone and call my niece. When her work closed she had gone to the airport. All of sudden I see it coming. A snowplow throwing snow right in my direction. I ducked and it missed. Then I saw the second and third so I ducked again. I missed the fourth one and got slammed with slush and snow.
My niece did finally pick me up and by the time we were out of the city there was no snow. When I got to my house there was no snow on the ground whatsoever. It was the worst storm in Buffalo in years. 10 feet of snow fell. I finally did make it out a few days later, but because I left my luggage they had tagged me and I got stopped at every single security check and even a random one at the gate.
By the way, when my first flight landed in Pittsburgh they got hit with a storm and it even snowed in South Carolina when I got there. Was a heck of a trip...lol.

My latest air travel misery was last June 2007 on our trip to Singapore. Our local flight departed late for JFK due to heavy rains in New York. When our flight arrived in New York, we were not able to disembark right away because there was no available gate for us. We're sure we already missed our connecting flight to San Francisco. We eventually got out without our actual gate, so we had to walk across the flooded airport. It was a total mess! We had to walk across puddles of water to get inside the airport. The water was all black and dirty because of the flood water mixed with oil. It was really gross! My shoes and bottom of my pants were all wet! Good thing I always keep spare clothes and shoes in my carry-on bag. So, we missed our connecting flight to San Francisco but luckily, there was another flight to SF later that afternoon and we're able to get on that flight. We just had to wait like 8 hours for that flight. It was a disaster!
