Do you need PayPal to receive credit or how does that work?

Okay, i jut recently signed up for this and i've made a couple of posts and now i've just created my own discussion. My question is.. how do you keep track of what you have earned? do you need a paypal account for this? if i don't ahve one, is posting right now worthless or being credited?
