Yes that is right a deep fried mars bar. I have just done a discussion on a man that eats nothing but mars bars, and while I was looking for a picture to use I came across this:-
http://bloggin-ads.com/deep-fried-mars-bar-heart-attack-anyone
Apparently these are sold in chip shops in Scotland, so anyone from Scotland, have you ever tried this and are they sold in your fish and chip shops? How do they not melt into a mess in the fryer?
What is all your opinion on this? Would you try one or not?
I think that I would, it is just really curious and so I would have to try it.
What is the most weirdest thing that you have ever heard of or tried that has been fried but really should not be?

I have never eaten a deep fried amrs bar Rose .but im certain that given the chance that i would!!thinking about it I may well fry myself one now!!,its only a case of making a little bit of batter and away you go!!....they apparently are a great favourite in Scotland yes.Mum likes to fry her tinned tomatoes, which I think is a wee bit weird lol, they are so soggy that i cant imagine whaty they must be like if they are fried, they must just go to a mushy mess.

Hi Gemini_rose, my younger daughter loves these, they cover the choclate in batter so they don't go gooey and sell them in a chip shop in a seaside town called Teignmouth in Devon so it has travelled a lot farther than Scotland where they originated. I tried a bit of hers but I must say I was not impressed at all but then again I also don't have a sweet tooth either so thats perhaps why eh! I haven't seen or heard of anything else strange fried I'm afraid. Ellie :D

Hi Gemini, Thanks for the best response, really appreciated. Is it me or is it really really quiet on here tonight. I haven't seen any new posts from friends at all and usually about 10ish it gets busy, do you think they are all off somewhere else and haven't told us? Ellie :D

I have had a deep fried Milky Way and OMG was it so good!! The only place I've ever seen it is at the State Fair, which is end of August, and I'm so looking forward to another. They also have deep fried Oreos, Snickers, and even deep fried twinkies.. now that one I can't really imagine. This year I'm going to try the deep fried Snickers!

Oh, let me just add, the ones they serve here look nothing like on your link. They actually have a cake like batter. So basically it tastes like a chocolate cream filled cake. It is really soft and the candy bar is all melted. That's why this year I want to try the snickers, to have the nuts in there to give it some texture.

I'd never heard of such an odd thing as a deep fried candy bar until a year or so ago. I have a friend who loves to host summer parties at his house. I attended one of his get togethers last year, I believe. After everyone had eaten their lunch, he started making the rounds from table to table asking who would like a deep fried candy bar. At first, I truly thought he was joking. . . until he pulled out a deep fried Snickers! They really weren't that bad, believe it or not. I just never would have imagined such a thing existed! LOL

I would not try one. I do not like deep fried that much, except for fish and chips and that is because I am part English. That man who eats them must be a pure Scot, very skinny and tall so he can probably eat with no effect. (don't you hate that type? )
As for how they cook them, they probably freeze the Mars bar and have the oil super hot and then they just dip it in quickly.
I have not heard of any weird thing that should not be deep fried except chocolate bars.

That is something to try on. I would like to try that one too and just see if it taste good. The weirdest thing that I have heard that needs to be deep fried would probable be ice cream. When I first heard that I was like,. What the?!!? i first learned this from a friend, after so much wondering on how they do this I have watched a lifestyle show and they featured a restaurant that sells fried ice cream. So therefore, I was convinced that there is really a fried Ice cream. I even researched it on the net and found so many sorts, like fried oreo etc..

I think that I would try one, but I don't think that it would be a regular thing by any stretch! I had the opportunity once to try deep-fried ice cream, and that was AWESOME, let me tell you.

First of all, I have never eaten any really strange deep fried things as I have not had the opportunity here in Canada....Just your standards...Potatoes and chicken, cheese sticks etc.
Secondly I have heard of deep fried Mars bars oddly enough and also, it is one of my favorite chocolate bars.....As for eating it deep fried if I had the chance.....Sorry, but sounds too weird to me and I don't think so!

The worst and most horrible thing I ever saw deep fried was in an episode of the BBC spy series SPOOKS where they tried to get information out of a female spy by shoving her hand into a deep fat fryer.
She told them what they wanted and as a reward they then pushed her whole head into the fat.
I saw that a while ago and it still disturbs me, gratuitous violence and all that.
Isn't television wonderful?

NO way! What, in spooks? I did not think that it was like that, did you actually see that? gosh no wonder you are disturbed by it!

that does not sound at all appealing to me. i cannot even imagine what that would taste like. not sure i want to find out either. i have heard of deep fried oreos and again that did not sound appetizing to me. aren't there enough fattening and unhealthy things in the world already that we don't need to deep fry candy??

Hi,
Well I love Mars bar so I would try it. I never have really ate anything that was deep fried like that . I shared a deep fried oreo with a friend at last year party in the park. I hear it is common now and people will fry just about anything .
I saw on youtub once someone frying a cream filled cake . Hey, for the mars bar and things like that , they usually will coat it in a batter and only do it for a short amount of time .

No I haven't but ironically I had this discussion two nights ago with two friends because one made me try my first fried oreo and it was awesome, messy but awesome. I have also tried fried pickles and fried ice cream. I have been dying to try a fried choc bar and a mars one sounds great and yummy.... I have heard of fried cheesecake and although i am a huge lover of cheesecake and pretty much anything fried, that one worries me a lil bit... but i will be sure to let you know if i try one but i haven't actually heard of them anywhere.
