This is just my view as I am not a Hindu and you don't have to take my advice.
I believe in God. I don't believe in nature as God, but a creation of God as us humans. There are people who are convincing and will try to use science and metaphysics to convince people that nature is God etc.
I don't believe Idols have any power nor praying through them to get through to a specific god and ask for blessings. I believe there is only One God and you can pray to him directly.

The answer is I don't know. My mother was a non-observant Christian and my father is a non-observant Jew. I wasn't raised in either faith. The idea of a God and an afterlife is very comforting but I'm not sure it makes sense to me.
I hope your husband is respectful of your beliefs though, that is the important thing.

Yes I believe in God. There is a God but in your culture you worship Idol which is not right in the sight of God so this is the reason your husband is against it. In the bible God says 'You should not have any other God but me'. When Moses was taking the children out of Israel, he went to the mountain for the commandments from God, but he stay longer then expected and Aaron, Moses brother built a golden calf and this upset God. If you can get a Bible different from the one you are used to read it and try to understand what your husband is saying to you. Pray and ask God for wisdom and understanding before you egin.
