If IEM given with that kind of a chance than I would definitely like to read the book at first and then go and watch the movie. I personally feel that reading the book for the first time is far better than watching the movie because when you are reading the book you are free to think about the whole story in your own perspective. You can visualise the whole story in your mind according to what you think and according to your creativity. You will have an image of each and every character but even if he had seen them you will replace them in those particular characters and you will read and go through the whole movie with them. In this way I generally first see the movie when I'm reading the novel and once it has been done to go and watch the movie and then I tried to compare how much I was a curate and which went the parts which I personally felt got better out of me than the director of the movie. This is because I am related to this field of movies and that is the reason I like to do such exercises to increase might creativity and to know how better or we can be presented in front of the audience.

i would probably say read the book first and ignore the movie. i have this extreme disappointment in the movie. most of the interesting parts from the book were ommitted in the movie. i don't know if it is budget-wise or because its so complex, its going to be hard to portray. that's just me!

I suggest watch the movie first because it takes only an hour. But reading the book will take some time.

I'm such a purist when it comes to this. I always prefer reading the book first. The first impression lasts and I guess you better get the better impression first which for me is always done by the book. Although sometimes this makes the movie fall short of your expectations. Just remember that they are very different mediums that way you won't be disappointed.

I have always found that these days it is very disappointing to read a good book the see the movie. They change the movies so much from the books that I have decided to see the movie then read the book. Then I won't be looking for the changes or missing parts.

I'd go for the book first. It has complete details and since the movie was taken from the book, you will understand the movie better. You will even have a point of comparison between the two. They're both good as well. I don't like long readings but Da Vinci Code was one book I read for hours. Enjoy.

I did both, but I read the book first. I strongly recommend you read the book. And don't waste time watching the movie! LOL! just kiding. The book really is far better than the movie. But if you just want to see the difference(and get dissappointed) you can watch the movie too.

I suggest that you read the book first. So you will know the whole story. The movie itself is not that detailed compared to the book. Goodluck!

I usually don't read much books. so i prefer watching movies. i haven't read any of the harry potter books but watched all the harry potter movies. For me movies take less time to understand the story and i am able to get the whole idea.

Hey, moose8. Have you already read the book. I hope that is what you did first cuz watching the movie will just deny you the enjoyment of the better experience - reading the book. BTW, the book is not really that good. Its hard to believe but its fiction after all. The plot is very exciting though.

..Yep, they are right. Read the book first because it's very, very detailed compared to the movie (obviously). The main advantage of the movie is that the movie fleshed out the characters and that these characters portrayed their book characters very well.
