If you are really into photography, but with a tight budget, get a prosumer digicam. A prosumer digital camera comes with lots of manual controls like a DSLR, but cost much less. As it comes with powerful zooms, you don't have to buy extra lenses for telephotos. It allows you to have the feel of using a DSLR before getting a real one. Some of the prosumers digicams even come with 12mp and 20x (or more) zooms. The price? Still affordable.
