Rice is an excellent form of carbs with is an energy source to the body as it breaks it down. Can you imagine a food that is easy to grow, cheap, has a good shelf life and makes people feel full! The king or all foods: rice.
I remember the first time I made rice and I didn't consider the expansision of it when it cooks. Hmm. I would like a bowl of rice so I will cook a bowl of rice. Didn't work out that way! It turned out to be like 5! I was eating rice for some time just to get rid of it!

Yes Rice contains more of carbohydrates. Eating more of carbohydrates causes deposition of glycogen in the body leading to gaining weight. Eating proteins are good for health. Well dont you eat chapatis at night. If not try to make a habbit of eating ragi balls or chapati at night times. They are not heavy foods and are rich in protein.

Hello ramyashreesk ,
I have heard from many people that eating too much rice can lead to weight gain. BUt i prefer rice over any other things coz it is simple to digest and it makes u feel full easily.

Yeah, thats true. Nowadays peopel have started cutting carbs. Try to consume less rice and take more fibre food like greens, fruits etc. Eating more white rice may also increase our triglycerides or cholestorol level. for those we can try eating brown rice.

Since rice is a staple in Asian countries and most Asian people are thin I don't think your argument about rice
would hold water. That's an American expression which means it doesn't stand up to scrutiny.

Yes, I do believe that eating a lot of rice gains weight but Here is what I have research: http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Does_white_rice_make_you_gain_weight
white rice is a simple carb, it is converted to sugar with very little calorie usage. In and of itself it does not "make" you gain weight. However if you would like to lose weight it is best to stick to whole grains. I.E. brown rice and whole wheat bread, these take more processes to get converted into sugar so they use more calories.

Hi! Well I guess it really depends on how much you eat it. If you just eat enough for the day so that you will have enough energy and you actually spend all of that energy then I guess you wont gain weight but when you eat lots of rice in a day and dont get to do much that you dont burn the carbs then surely you will gain weight. Even though rice is really good for your body and energy levels like with anything else it should also be taken into moderation. As for me I dont feel heavy when I eat rice thats because rice is a part of our diet and I cant really go through any meal without having a portion of it. Im used to it too and so I dont gain much weight in normal activities but nowadays I dont have any activities so I guess all the carbs are just building up and I have enough energy to run a mile but I dont use much of it thats why Im gaining a bit of weight.LOL Anwyays, goodluck in your rice intake.^_^
