Travel to the Caribbean

Here in the UK, the current escalation of fuel prices is leading to an almost daily increase in the cost of air travel, especially for long-haul flights, and it is quite likely that you will be similarly affected, wherever you live. Are you worried about the possibility that those increases will limit your ability to travel to the Caribbean, whether for vacations or to visit family and friends?

Hi jahrock,
Many people will be upset about the fuel prices for travel anywhere specially to the Caribbean. Have not been myself but have seen them various times on Television they are beautiful.
Dominicana Islands are being affected by air fuel crisis and Ecuador and also Peru all these long haul flights are being hard too and not to mention Brasil. There are many People here that will take them two years to save to be able to go home after so much hard work. But the interior flights here you can pay really low prices I thinks its very silly all this. Once again the long haul traveller that usually wants to go home is being hit really hard.
I like the Caribbean though but have no idea when I will be able to go as I would be going on a long haul flight to see someone there not just a Holiday either. Love your Islands fantastic.

That's the nice thing about being here on MYLOT, where comments can trigger a response many months after the subject was first introduced, rather than the manic immediacy of other Network programs, asking what you're doing NOW! I keep wondering whether we have gradually returned to those bygone days when long haul travel was something only the rich could afford, when we have a lot of people who live in different parts of the world to the land of their birth, and increasingly we find ourselves priced out of what used to be fairly regular holidays to visit family and friends.
It also did not help that those setting the prices were able to ring the changes according to their idea of HIGH or LOW Season, simply to make more money on the routes. Here in the UK we are enjoying the next round of FIXES, because more and more of the airlines are trying to move from check-in desks and staff to ONLINE Booking in, with extra charges to come if you insist on seeing a human face behind a desk when you get to the airport. Discount airlines are now charging extra if your suitcase is going into the hold, so hand luggage only. Maybe we should be looking again at the possibilities of travel by sea!
