What are the best novels to read?

I've been looking for a new book to read that could possibly inspire me. I love reading and there are such books that inspire me to write after reading it.
I loved Thicker than Water and Exorcist. Both gave me ideas and were really inspirational. What are other books that is a must read?

If you are in to long books I recntly read "The Pillars of the Earth" by Ken Follet. It is a long book indeed, but it is very gripping, and you will be very interested in finding out what happens to the characters. I would highly reccomend it.
