Hi ssh,
Discussion is where two or three people sit together and have a chat or discuss something, like an interesting topic. In that if one has a contradicting view and tries to impose his view over others it tends to become an argument. Sometimes it goes out of hands and becomes a quarrel. So arguing something with calm and cool attitude will be interesting rather than the hot discussion.
A smile or something pleasant will be needed to bring the heat down in an argument. A joke or a sense of humor by one of the participants will help calm down the nerves and make them laugh. Thus the heat can be brought down among friends.
Discussions are always interesting and there are conflicting subjects, so be careful by selecting good topics, so that it does become an argument. Even the simplest of discussion can become a serious argument..

One can bring down the heat by just keeping cool, or use such words and sentences that would pacify the person who is talking 3 feet above ground. Ultimately, it is an art in both arguments and discussion that makes the man to get his point across the table. Consideration for others is another view point which make the discussion a pleasant one.

An arguing person will not have any consideration for others, ssh, even if they are his friends. He has to prove his point and convince others. He would not want to listen to others and accept their views.
Yes ssh, it is art to be able to continue discussions without getting heated up. Consideration for ones friends and colleagues should be there in a corner of his mind. Then he will not get heated up and as you say 'he'll not talk from 3 feet above the ground' I have not heard this idiom at all. this is the first time..

Me and my husband do not discuss. We both like to argue. Most of the time i just say what I want to say and then go do what I want to do. There is no sense in discussing anything with him.

Hi ssh123! Yes, I do believe in discussions. As you have just mentioned, discussions throw light. And I agree with that. In discussions we can learn a lot if we just keep an open mind. It enlightens us and gives us broader perspective on different things. Discussions are beneficial and enlightening as long as the participants are not so close minded and will just push or insist on what they believe in because if that is the case then, it will just turn into a debate and an argument.
Take care and God bless!

There is no human being who says he gets no anger. All of us are just common human beings, but the greatest thing would be we should not get angry for nothing. It is better to diffuse the situation by not arguing at all particularly those who argue for argument sake. Regards.

I definitely believe in discussions or a good friendly debate. You can put three persons in a room, toss out a subject and each will have a different idea on what the subject means. Sometimes I can change my mind, other times I can only explain how I feel. But after the discussion with no angry words involved, we leave as closer friends or mates than we started. Actually, I would hate to have a person think exactly as I do. I can't learn if they don't have different ideas. I don't argue, I like to ask questions and find out what is really causing a disagreement, then find a compromise we can both accept.

I feel sick if I have to argue with anyone.
I don't like arguments with my spouse, child
or friends. It is not healthy for the body.
I would prefer to discuss! Yes, I believe in
discussions, whether here on Mylot or in my
real life.

good day.. no I'm actually not but when I'm dealing with an argumentative person I'm afraid I also becomes argumentative and persevere in taking the argument with him.
