I really feel for the last poster, as know some areas are wet. I'm not one of the members with this situation. Its dry and the only way grass is growing will be to water it. Its so dry here that during fire season we can use all the water other areas can deliver to us.
My grass is short and was mowed a couple of days ago. We don't let it get long.

We have record breaking heat waves several times this year. I use to tell people it never gets really hot here, but its not true in recent years. Hope its nice weather ahead for everyone.

What is going on with the weather? Are you folks experiencing anything different? We usually do NOT have this kind of rain (except in winter.)
The rain isn't soooo bad, but that it's really cool, too! Goes down to about 5 celcius at Night (that's about 40F)..so it's only about 8 degrees above freezing...This is unheard of here, at this time of the year.
I am so sorry you are experiencing a drought...especially with fire season looming. Yes, I do keep my grass short during fire season, as like you I want as little "ground fuel" around my house as possible. Fire season here is mid-July to mid-Sept. Two years ago (July 23) we had a major fire on this Island (Galiano) and over half the 3000 residents were evacuated. The "hotspots" of the fire weren't totally out 'til the October rains. Cheers!

LMAO Our Grass is getting thick. We have opted to only cut every other weekend because of gas prices. My 13 year old of course loves this decision LMAO. So our cat loves to stalk in the the clover that has grown. Actually the clover is kind of pretty don't ya think?

Just an aside on grass....noticed what you said about Ticks, and just learned a new lesson, as we are inundated with them this year.!
Put a dab of liquid detergent on a cotton ball. Hold the detergent part over the tick....the tick backs out from the soap...and gets caught in the cotton ball...toss it all away. Works like a hot darn!Cheers!

LOL, my dad is forever moaning because the rain is making the grass grow again, he only mowed it like two weeks back, and it already needs another cut, trouble is he doesn't do it properly, I have told Mum NOT to offer to do it otherwise she'll get lumbered, like your man mind you least yours did it, my dad would much rather watch tv. Only exercise he gets so why deprive him of it! Mind you he does about 5 minutes so the neighbours can see him then comes in again to watch tv for an hour ha ha ha! Men have a canny trick of not doing jobs properly because their better halfs get fed up with them and do it themselves, hence the Men get let off the hook!

Our grass is looking really good this year. We put some weed and feed out about a month ago and my hubby pulled all the weeds. We need to cut it about once a week to keep it looking nice. It's not so bad because we take turns with the mowing.

this subject is a sore point....on the West Coast, our weather is unusually cold & wet! The grass is loving it...perfect growing conditions! I am already tired of cutting the lawn...it need's it every 5-6 days or it looks like the dickens! The temperature is just hovering around 50 degrees F...the grass & weeds are loving it! I have never, ever in June had great big pools of water all over...At least the robins are loving it, huge bird baths. What a delight they are to watch! Cheers & let the sun shine!

Our grass is pretty short right now. The pasture could use a good mowing right now though. With gas being so expensive though the pasture can keep on growing for right now. It is just straw anyway, so it does not get thick even though it gets long.

My grass is growing so fast. It was cut one week ago, but needs to be cut again.
My organic veggie garden is growing very fast.
Grass is secondary. I like to cut is less often now.
Maybe I can wait one more week....

Well Terry, with all the flooding we have had, our lawn is 3/4 mowed and 1/4 muddy grass that can't be cut. There is a strip of unmown grass along both sides of the ditch as well being there was still water in it last time I mowed. Found an excellent way of cleaning the underside of a mower deck thou. Set it in about an inch of water in the yard and run the blades. lol It did a really good job when I cut too close to the 'pond' out back. Deck looked so clean and shiny afterwards.

Well Poor Maggie and molly! That is there fun ruined isn't it? LOL tia doesn't get that chance in our garden - we have quite a large back garden but only a small part of it is lawn and it is kept nice and short - too much work for the other half if it gets too long! xxx

we have in our apt complex an elderly mexican who is the worlds
best gardener and he keeps the younger guys bust all the time
mowing our grass lawns so it looks just beautiful we have huge
trees and flowering shrubs and periannuls in bloom here and
a ton of different birds singing. i love this complex but wish
the rent was a little less but you cannot have everything. lol.
