I've been making rag quilts for babies and they sell really well on ebay. people must like getting them for babies because the baby quilts sell the best! I'm in the middle of making a dragonfly/flower one right now and the last one i sold, sold pretty quickly. you could always have it embroidered for the baby and that way when they get older it can be a keepsake or hand me down to there children. I dont currently have any on ebay but if you were interested you could contact me at snel27@hotmail.com

Whenever I attend a baby shower, I make sure to bring a gift for the mom to be. Everyone is brining things for the baby, but what about the mom?? I usually bring a basket of fruit, or other yummy healthy snacks. And then something to pamper herself with...a bath spa set, foot cream, vitamin E cream if I know she will be nursing...things like that. I will also get a little something for the new baby, like a cute outfit, a pack of diapers, or something along those lines. Have fun!!

LOL Great minds think alike eh! Or is it just the fact that we are mums and understand how we felt when expecting. Ellie :D

You can always get the baby an outfit around the child's age or a little bigger for her to grow into. Depending on the season, you can get a onsie that has something cute on the front. You can also get a toy that plays a lulliby. Those makes cute gifts, the mom will never turn down clothes, and if it's a sweet lulliby, it will soothe the baby to sleep.

Yea, I got my neighbor across the street, her baby girl a very cute onesie, for less than 4 bucks. They have clearance sections all over the store. I got my daughter's 5th grade graduation dress, for less than 10 bucks, and it was originally 65 dollars. I love Kohls, you can get the baby something and find something for yourself.

Oh I was almost certain that I would be too late in responding and putting in my own two cents. It seems as if you have a lot of suggestions already, and I do hope that I do not suggest something has already been suggested for you. I would suggest getting something for the baby such as clothing, baby bottles, diapers, pacifiers, receiving blankets, towels, baby wipes, diaper disposal bags, as well as getting air fresheners, bibs, baby toys, baby teething rings, baby monitor, etc. I hope that this has helped, and I do hope that I have not said anything that someone else has already said... Oh yes and one more, a diaper bag. Good Luck Shopping, Have A Great Day And Happy Mylotting!

hi checapricorn, mostly when you get an invitation for a baby shower it is listed there what are the gift suggestions. but having experiencing a lot of baby showers, diapers are really one of the gifts that would really help the parents with their budgets. i alwasy give a big bag of small and medium size diapers.

I think diapers, baby lotion, baby shampoo, baby wipes. Necessity items since they tend to run out of those the fastest. I had a friend whom made up a gift basket for me with various items for the baby and various body and bath items for me, plus through in a family type movie for the rest of our gang. If it was me shopping for a baby girl I would be going hog wild....only cause I want a baby girl but I have 4 boys plus another boy on the way...lol

I am a very practical person and the baby will be receiving everything so I would in fact buy a pampering set of some sort for the new mum rather than the baby as she tends to get a bit neglected at these times. If it is something for the baby I would buy the next size up from new born clothes ans these they are only in for five minutes so the next size would be more appreciated when the time comes as it is less expense for the parents to then have to buy. I am sure you will find something lovely though. I will also always crochet a blanket for the baby so if you have a creative skill that would be good too. Enjoy the party. Ellie :D

Haha, I didn't read the responses before I posted, you are the first person I've ever run into that sees this like I do. Baby always gets tons of stuff, sometimes more than needed, but mom just sits there opening for baby, then she will endure birth and all those sleepless nights, she deserves a little something too!!

i wish i can say something here but i have a son and they gave us mostly shirts and things that are colored blue. i can say you can give some educational toys or books for parents can read it to their children even they are just a day old. i have bought a lot of simple stories books for my child and now that he is two we still read it to him. you can also give some cd's of nursery rhymes for the child can hear it even at a young age. there, i hope that helps

I always buy baby care items. Lotion, shampoo, diapers, powder, baby travel kit, baby wipes and a diaper bag to carry all this in. You can never get to much of these things. Sleepers and onesies are nice also. I hope this is some help. Have a great day.

Some small diapers and clothes. that would be great. One can never do without diapers and perhaps some clothes to wear once the child comes out of the hospital and comes home.

One of the best gifts I got at a baby shower was a hamper basket made up by my friend full of essential baby stuff like: baby powder, baby oil, bath stuff, nappy wipes, bibs, nappy cream, baby moisturiser and if you wanted to you could even put a cd in there of baby music or one of those nature cds that has the sounds of waves crashing. I the mother would appreciate this as you could never get enough baby supplies when you have a baby.

You can sew a nice small shirt for the baby. Cause whats more special than something which is made with your own hands. Or you could buy a nice teddy bear, which would last long, wont get dirty with time, and is soft and cuddly enough. Cause small children gets attached to things like that, and they will have it till they grow very old. But if you buy something like a small car toy or something i bet it wont last a week. Try to consider something that will last longer, and is sweet enough for a baby girl.
