I wanted to see what all of the fuss was about and so I went on an adventure into Second life, well I was amazed at how ordinary it was,I trotted around..I called myself LOLLY !!!!!Well at first it dint enter my head that you needed money ..as in Lindens ..but I wasnt prepared to waste any on those lol...so I wore what I had on ...you have to pay if you want an outfit!!!..then I took a walk around, well what a laugh!!!..I talked on the screen, but that was mainly because it was too quiet in there...in the end I came out and honestly I was bored!!!
Have any of you been in and had any good experiences????

You really are at the cutting edge now Ruby. Virtual worlds, second lives. Sounds most absorbing if you hadn't got myLot or Mr Ruby to play with. I did once go to the Home page or whatever it is called, but no further. You are clearly an explorer. Don't forget your pith helmet.

You know theres a saying....if you dont try you dont know!!..or something like that..but anyway if someone says Oh this is really goood I want to know whats going on!!!a virtual world isnt for me,but until i tried i didnt know!!But neverthe less it was a weird experience!!..and the funniest thing was when i was chatting to myself!!...no one really said anything!!...maybe its aimed at the younger ones really. The comments above all relate to Second life and it seems as though the demise of the casinos has all but finished it off...

I went and had to try it out. I thought it would be fun to go there, do something different; like open my own business. As I poked around through their programs, I realized that it could very expensive. So I decided to just walk around the community and see what it had. As I was taking the tour of the place, a car came up from behind me and ran me over. So there went my venture, lol. I haven't been back since.

Its where you go to a site on the net..called second life...you sign up and you get an avatar...then you enter the virtual world, where you can explore everything thats there...its a surreal experience.Everything that is in real life is there in second life,if you see the posts above Rose it will give you a bigger insight into it all...but to me it was a little bit boring.

i actually do play second life and i love it myself. First of all its a technological marvel in of itself. but beyond that its allowed me to make quite a few friends and i can also listen to live DJs at different clubs. even though there arnt any casino's anymore there is still a fair amount to do there. i know of one person that is building piece by piece a starship based off the star trek series. really cool ^_^. its just a place to escape for a while.

I have heard of that program, but I have neer done it. It sounds like it would be interesting, but right now I don't really have the time. I'm too busy trying to make a living, but if I ever want to try it, I'll know where to find it. Thanks for sharing your experiences.

I tried 'Second Life' once, but didn't keep up with it. I deleted it from my computer, but I might try it again to see if it changed.
I actually play on the other virtual world called www.there.com
SOme say it's better then 'SL' and its almost the same, but a little different... you should stop by sometime... LOL!

I explored it too for a while-you could do a virtual world tour, meeting people from other countries and chat with them, listen to music in clubs,go see musicians play "live",Check out Virtual art Galleries..NASA have a presence in SL with info about the Mars Landers, and panoramic photos that give the appearance of being there..Companies are looking into SL for teleconferencing..Universities are Using it for virtual classrooms..Somebody Mentioned Star Trek..there are Star trek Simulations, virtual battle sims,etc..I'm a Fan of Firefly/Serenity,the TV series, and the Movie based on it-I'd heard there were Fans who'd built "Life Size" ships from the Series in SL..In the Movie or Series, you can get used to the layout of a place-Seeing it in a virtual environment that you can walk up to,go around and explore is totally Deja Vu! Scott Adams, creator of "Dilbert" once did a sort of public Q&A session I went to-that was Fun!Adams had created a photo real avatar of himself,so it looked like Him actually there- One resident turned up in a Dilbert Avatar and was pretending to Beat Adams Up! surreal!
I was there when the casinos got axed..I wasn't gambling, anyway,so it didn't bother Me,there was so much else to see..virtual Islands you could explore, with interactive musical instruments you and friends could create music with..I left because I was starting to spend too much time in there,I didn't stay long enough to get bored!

I played the game for three days.. after that I got bored and I quitted. Probably the game is much better and funner when you buy some Linden Dollars for real Dollars. I prefer playing the Sims, which I think has a lot in common with Second Life besides the fact that the Sims isn't online.

Yep ive been n there and it was well funny. This guy aproached me,Kane something or other and he started to chat to me on the screen. So I played him along and I was gobsmacked when he said that he wanted to chat about mature things,he reckoned it was the done thing on ther and thats what went on there all the time.I said not in my book buddy.

I tried Second Life too and was bored to tears. I prefer games with preset goals and not ones you have to conjure up for yourself. You have to pay for everything unless you know enough about graphic design to make your own things. Or you could get a virtual job; a job! People play games to escape from their jobs. Anyway, I didn't like it but I know a lot of people do and that's just fine.
