One of my ex-girlfriends had a Siamese. It talked more than any other cat that I have ever encountered. Someday, when my little troop thins out (heaven forbid, but some of my cats are getting up there in age), I plan on getting a Siamese. They are very intelligent and friendly, or at least, the one she had was.

My cat is getting a little old too. Well, he's a family cat and I'd like a cat of my own. My family has always had a cat and I'm going to ge married soon and I'd like to keep that tradition. The way you describe them, Siamese sound like a great breed to get.

I've always loved their meow. It is a little creepy but that can be cool to me. :)

Noisy little things. When you walk into a room they will start talking to you. If you are in another room they will start talking just to get a response from you. I think that they are just checking where everyone is (and too lazy to go walking about the house).
They were originally bread as guard cats. So they are pretty territorial and like to know where everyone is.

That's interesting. I didn't know anything about the history of the breed.

I have a Siamese cat, his name is Floyd (after Pink Floyd). He is a seal-point, and so is creamy coloured except for the seal-brown colouration at the extremities.
I would heartily recommend a Siamese due their strong personal character; they really do become one of the family. However, they can be extremely loud and demanding: they are very vocal cats and will yowl (some people think they sounds like a crying baby!) or purr loudly when they want something. They might even swipe your ankles (but with their claws sheathed).
If you are thinking of getting a Siamese I would recommend you look on the internet at images and decided which point-type you like most: seal-point, lilac-point, seal-point ... there are quite a few.
Unfortunately Siamese have been interbred to create more 'showy' breeds and this has even led to some health problems. So check the pedigree of the kitten you are interested in.
Anyway, I hope you choose Siamese. They are extremely friendly cats and will easily become your best friend, and will be waiting patiently for you when you get home from work.

Thanks for the info. I'll do some research and see what colors I like. I didn't know there were different colors. I hate that people inbreed animals so much that it causes health problems.
