with gas prices averaging $4 a gallon at the pump, we should stop and consider what we could do to make us independent from oil. when u are an investor, look into investing in natural gas, plug-in cars, solar, wind, geothermal etc. we can help companies to develop more advance alternative energy by investing in their companies.

I can't believe nobody responded to this. I just stumbled on this myself, wondering if there was any discussion about the wind energy stocks I've been following.
I had the same idea, and dumped a portion of my government stimulus check into Welwind (WWEI), a wind energy producer. I got in when it was $0.04 (yes, FOUR CENTS a share). I have about 1700 shares of it right now, and it's at $0.14. That's right, $68 to over $200. Not bad eh? I'm still looking to dump about $500 more if it drops down to the right price.
I'm also keeping an eye on a few ethanol producers. I'm going to put about $1000 into each one when they go public.
