I got to discussing this recently and there were some pretty big differences! How often do you change and wash your bedding? This would include sheets and pillow cases, comforters and duvet covers, pillows themselves, and anything else you regularly keep and use on your bed most nights.
I thought the average or norm was maybe once a week or so, but I have heard anything from every other DAY to once a YEAR. LOL!

once a year, wow that is a bit too long. LOL i would say about every week. i do laundry on sundays. so every Sunday i like to make sure the bedding in the house is nice and clean, ready for a new week. every day is way to often for me, i got other things to do with my day.

to be honest with you, i work less at work then i do when i am home. so i know about being way to busy at home to get all the things done you want to get done. if i get my sheets changed onces a week i am a very happy lady. running a home is more work then i ever thought it would be. but the most rewarding

Yeah, and I don't know who in their right mind believes that people who are wives and moms and run a house aren't actually WORKING. I have never worked so many hours a week in my life, even with an employer and mandatory OT. LOL! I do my laundry a few times a week when I have a load, growing up I had to do some every day because I did EVERYBODY'S. Ugh!
I've also found out that with just one extra little one that it takes longer to do almost everything and you have to plan your day with a little more time padding in order to make everything smooth.

I tend to think the every other day folks are bordering on ocd. I'm not even that bad unless there's a circumstance - like my daughter spilled something or peed the bed or got sick or something. I would probably consider doing it more often if there was dog or cat hair or something that was getting all over it all the time, but we don't have pets so that's not an issue.

Bedding I do several ways. MY quilts I wash one and put a different one on so the one im washing can hang to dry. I change the quilts around once every 3 months.
My duvet I've never washed In the summer i hang outside to air out and spot wash if there's anything on it.
The blankets under my quilts or at the foot of the bed get washed every 2 months and put back on right away.
My sheets are a weekly wash. I cant sleep if i know it hasnt been changed and ive slept in it for like 7 or 8 days straight. If i havent slept in the bed much i can wait two weeks but that pushing my icky feeling limits.
I found out tonight my boyfriend only changes his sheets when i go there. And rather than washing them hes bought new sheets and just put the old ones in the laundry room to someday be washed (i washed them all the last time i was there not knowing he hadnt washed any of them before)

I am laughing about your boyfriend's approach to bedding! I've heard that's not uncommon with some guys. I kind of did a double take about blankets under the comforter - I only use a comforter on top of my sheets. I guess it's too warm here to use extras.

I didn't mean change your BED, just your bedding, sheets and comforters/blankets etc. I actually love my bed, it has water tubes inside the mattress so it's supportive but not hard. Much nicer than a traditional spring mattress and better than foam or a typical waterbed.

Not often enough! Seriously though, I am bad about stripping my bed and washing the sheets. I think it stems from childhood, where it was my responsibility to do everyones bedding. I do manage to get the sheets and pillowcases done once a week. The comforter I wash seasonally. We have a king size waterbed and the comforter is way too big for my machine and dryer. I have to haul the darn thing to the laundromat and fight over the extra large washer. Not my idea of a fun Saturday!

Hehehe!! Oh man, you sound like me! When I read your post I was thinking you were my long lost twin! When I was a kid, it wasn't my job to do everybody's bedding, well not to strip it and redo it, but I DID have to wash and dry it all! We have a king size waterbed too and I also dislike dragging everything to the laundromat, there are strange people there sometimes. A situation at the laundromat prompted another discussion I posted here about getting hit on. =P

We change the bed sheets and pillow cases as well as the quilt cover about once a month. We could not keep any longer than this period because dust are building and it is definitely not healthy. My body will be itchy if I slept on dusty pillow cases or bed sheets or even the quilt cover.

We change the madeups(pillow and bed covers...)every sunday as we have nearly five sets. We wash them when we wash our other clothes. It is always better to have spareones.

Hello Mommyboo, I change my sheets and pillow cases once a week. My comforter about every 6 months, it has to be dry cleaned. I never wash the pillows them selves but buy new ones at least once a year. Those memory foam pillows, there is no way to clean them, and I have had to throw one out. My feather bed topper also goes to the dry cleaners every 8 months to a year. It is about time to buy a new one... I just love them.

Oooh, I used to have a featherbed topper but no more. My comforters can be washed but we have a california king bed, which is why i usually take my comforter and sheets to the laundromat if the comforter needs washing. I can do just the sheets in my washer at home. I probably end up washing the comforters more often than most people because we eat in here... and so does the little one! She has spilled drinks many many times.... and I hate spots on my comforters lol!

I change the sheets about once a week, sometimes less like if something gets spilled on them and sometimes more if I don't feel like they need it yet. I don't go more than 2 weeks though on the sheets. Luckily, I have accumulated about 5 sheet sets over the years, so I don't have to wash them immediately in order to change the bedding. Pillow cases, I have a lot of those, so I change them about once a week, sometimes more often like if I got sweaty one night. I wash our summer blanket maybe once a month or sooner if I think it needs it. Our duvet cover that we use for our winter duvet needs to be washed about once every week or week and a half (why I thought it was a good idea to buy a black duvet cover, I will never know). I wash our feather bed that goes on top of the mattress once every couple of months. It is down alternative, so I can wash it in the washing machine.

We change all sheets and pillowcases weekly at our house. The comforters are washed every six months and we buy new pillows yearly. Every Sunday each person gets out of bed and puts the top sheet and the pillow cases inside the bottom sheet and sets it by their bedroom door along with the rest of their laundry from the week. It makes it easier to sort whose is whose.
