Apparently a person can "drown" up to 24 hours after getting water in their lungs! Here is the article:

How sad, and how could that mother possibly know that her child was in danger? So all you parents, pay attention and tell your friends about this, especially now that it's swimming season!

I don't know if you ever watch the Today Show in the morning, but they just had a segment of their show all about dry drowning. I had never heard of it before either.
This seven year old boy had gone swimming for the first time for an hour then walked home just fine. When he got home, he went and took a nap. His mom went in to check on him a while later and he was not responding. They called the ambulance, but it was too late. His lungs had been filled with swimming pool water.

That was the boy in the article, I think. I used to watch the Today show but I don't have time to anymore. Thanks for the reply.

Person can drown in may ways then getting traditional way that we know... I read about a guy who got hit with pile of bricks on his chest... He survived pile of bricks falling on him but what killed him was his internal injuries... His lung was bleeding, something about broken rib cutting or going through his lung or something to that affect... He drowned in his own blood in his lung...

Yeah, I know... I won't get into graphics of the article I've read but it took him almost 4 hours to die... I'm not sure if he was on medication or it was other reasons but I don't understand why the blood didn't clog (spelling?)? They said his lungs just kept bleeding until he drowned... Some medications will do that from what I understand... They have some sort of affect on your blood that it won't clog easily... I guess that was his case...
