Don't you hate it when a series just drags out? I have been waiting YEARS to finish reading Terry Goodkinds Sword of Truth series and just got the last book Confessor the other day. Read through it in 2 days. Not sure if I am glad its over or not lol. The funny part is I probably wouldn't have even read the series had it not been for a friend of mine. I was in the hospital overnight for observation for my heart, and called a friend of mine cause I was bored. He brought me Wizards first Rule, and I have been hooked since! Been also reading the Wheel of Time series, and read all of the gunslinger series and all of Anne Rice's series. Now to find a New one lol.

I've been waiting a long time for the Sword of Truth and Wheel of Time series too. I'm going to buy the last ones in the series, then read them all from beginning to end. It's been getting to the point where I can't remember much about some of the characters (including who they are) they've been dragging on so long.

I am lucky I guess you could say that I remember much of what I read. When waiting for the Sword of Truth to finish out I had reread the one before phantoms just to refresh my memory and make sure I was still in the plot of the book. I lreread books all the time though if I enjoy them :).

I amalways looking for new books to read. I also like to pick up ones on different crafting stuff. My fianceandI can't get out of a bookstore for unter $100. Between the 2 of us we have books on just about every subject you can think of. Unlike me though he will start reading a book and put it down for a while so he can start reading something else lol.

Oh, I do remember quite a bit of what I read. As the series have been dragging on, though, I haven't been rereading the later books as much as I did the earlier ones. Probably because I'm constantly getting new books, and only reading certain of my old ones at any time.

Well some books seems to be like the soap serials on TV...keeps on dragging. While some has a steady built up to the twist of the story yet never arriving at that juncture and it feels really frustrated to read it out.

There are some that I have read that are like that, just seems to drag on and on. Most of the better ones though you keep wanting to go back for more lol. I can't read anything by Dean Koontz anymore. Once you have read 3 of his books it seems that the plots remain basically the same just the players change, just like a soap opera!

I thibnk it has a lot to do with different reading styles. Take the Wheel of time series, I had a hard time reading the first one. I would read a few pages put it down and not come back for a week. once I got used to the writing style, I was hooked. I don't like to give up hehehehe.

That's absolutely right. However, great books are there and so are great writers. That is why we are able to find out why these other books are so ill structured.

What types of genres do you like to read? I like reading just about anything. If I can get into a book I am lost in the entire story till it is done lol.

I love reading book series! I am into three right now. JD Robb aka Nora Roberts - Eve Dallas series. Very good murder mysteries. There are like 26 books in this series and they are still going strong. Sue Grafton writes a series that starts with A is for Alibi, etc. I am currently reading her latest T is for Trespass. This is great mystery series. Then there is Faye Kellerman series. She just released the 16th book of the series last summer. They are the Peter Decker/Rena Lazrus mystery series. I highly recommend them all!

Yes. I liked reading the Harry Potter series. It was very good and I liked it a lot. It had a lot of twists and turns and the last book was just awesome. It had a lot of inspiring moments in it and it was very good to read it. bourne

Well, people might say they are kiddish, but I don't think so. The plot has been well thought of and it surely represents a very good writing skills. Along with it, you get a good dose of fantasy and you could really get your mind to imagine a lot of stuff and visualize it the way you want. bourne

I love books that are in series because I often fall in love with the characters and hate for a book to end. It's always nice to know that there will be another one. Some people have already listed some of my favourites, but here they are: 1. The Outlander Series by Diana Gabaldon 2. The Clan of the Cave Bear series by Jean M. Auel 3. The Eve/Rourke books by JD Robb (aka Nora Roberts) 4. The Eve Duncan books by Iris Johanson There are more, but I can't think of them off the top of my head.

Erilyn, I hear you there. Waiting for the Gunslinger series was excruciating. I got to wizards and glass and put them down and said that I was not going to read anymore of them untill he had the series finished. By the time the next book would come around I had forgotten what happened in the last book. I do enjoy a good series that goes on and on. Anne Rice is one of my favorite authors as well, her vampire and Mayfair witches series are extraordinary. Just kills me to have to wait for the next book. This last Harry potter was the same way.

I was so mad when King got hit by the minivan simply because I thought to my self now he will never finish the da*n series. I didn't like Wizard and Glass much. to me all that backstory was not needed. If he wanted to tell it that way he should maybe have started with the back story. I also think that the last book in that series felt rushed. But then if you are a loyal King fan you know as well as I do He doesn't know how to end a book lol. I liked the Vampire Crhonicles up to Pandora, I think they went downhill from there. The Mayfair witches, now I loved those!! I think the Taltos spin was one of my fav parts!

There's a "sweeps" series out ny Kate Tiernan that is good. I LOVED the Anne Rice ones, but don't always look for a series of books. But sometimes I like the author and their stream of thought, so I read the series then.

I didn't start out to read it as a series. I read the first book not realizing that it was going to be a series of books lol. When you are desprate for something to read and someone brings you a book you never know where it will take you lol.

I am the same way. My Fiance hates buying me books cause I usually read them within a few days. So now if I want a book he makes me wait till it is out in paperback lol. Except for the last book Confessor. That one he bought me in hardback becasue he knew how long I had been waiting for it to come out.

I remember reading the Narnia books when I was in school. I suppose I really should pick up the Harry potter books and read those. I hadn't done it thus far. It was one of those things I enjoy the movies and didn't want to read ahead of them I guess lol. I do need new books to read though so I guess it would be a good place to start lol.
