euro2008 - first day

the first day of euro2008 is behind us, two match are played and all six available points are won, no spreading points ...
Group A
switzerland - czech republic 0:1
portugal - turkey 2:0
jocker from bench ... that how you can call the first match ... Karel Bruckner was done a substitution that everyone was saying, what a heck is he doing, he gets out a jan koller and gets in a unknown Vaclav Sverkos who scored a only goal in this match
for the second match i was only have to say that its good to see that there are defenders who can play a really well on other positions, as i see a Pepe, nice play from him, he score even a one goal with head but he was in offside position
didi you watch this two matches, if so ... what are your views of them

I've seen both matches and it's a good start. Not a spectacular one, but a pretty good start.
The game between SWI and CZE wasn't very spectacular. I would have expected for the Czechs to crush the Swiss, but both teams managed to defend very well. I am happy that The Czech Republic won, I can't stand the Swiss football team (I can't really say why...).
Portugal Vs. Turkey was a much more appealing match. The game had better pace and the players tried to play a much more spectacular game than the previous.
I'm referring so much to the spectacle on the pitch because that is what I'm interested in as a watcher. I understand that for the two teams involved the points are the only thing that matters, but I watch the games for the show, for lots of beautiful goals

the main purpose of watching football matches is to view the wizardry of the players and from that point of view,the switzerland match was quite boring,in fact i thought the swiss played better in some parts!!!
but portugal offered much better football which was quite enjoyable

I watched 1st match in full and second partially...
The results are expected, favorites won.
But the reviews were like "this is not Euro quality...blah blah"; I disagree - the teams are always cautious on these kinds of events.

Yup i watched both the matches..was surprised when koller was substituted..but it does not matter as sverkos scored a much needed goal for them. Was expecting Scolari to play Nani in the playing 11 but it did not happen. There are very few defenders who can stop Nani..he has tremendous pace and accuracy. He can score from any place. Well Pepe's 1st goal was from an offside position but, i think that it was his day to score thats why he got another chance and this time he was perfect. We can say he was a bit lucky as that goal was a deflection. But now who cares.
