What are you obsessive about?

Let's face it. We all(for the most part), are obsessive about something. I'll admit that I can be obsessive when it comes to books and reading. I actually sometimes go on reading "binges." There was a time when I was obsessive about certain foods but diet restrictions have made me immune to all of that by now. I am also obsessive about quiet time. I require a certain amount of quiet time each day. I don't like noise at all. I guess you could say I'm obsessive about my drinking glass since I have only one that I regularly drink from. I have one fork that I use to eat from. Boy, this is getting scary! My kids used to accuse me of being a "neat freak," but I have long since moved past that. So, tell me if you dare, what are you obsessive about?

Hmm, I believe the two things I am the most obsessive about is my cookware and cooking utensils. They have to be cleaned the way I like them to be cleaned and put back in the same spot they were taken from.
I usually get pretty angry if I have to search around for a certain pot, spatula, or wire whisk. You see I love to cook, so I need my stuff right there when I want it, so I can just throw everything together and get it cooking. Plus saves time when you know where everything is.

lol..I know the frustration well, when it comes to the kitchen and where things are placed. My husband is 6ft tall and has a bad habit of placing things out of my reach, though I think he is slowly learning not to do it as much now, since I make him get up and get it for me every time..
It drives me bonkers when I have to search for something when I know it should have been in a certain spot to begin with. But such is life, when you have people over who have their own way of doing things. I do try not to let it get to me as much, but well some days it's hard to overlook.

I couldn't agree more, jeweled! I absolutely hate it when someone comes into my home and moves things or neglects to put them back where they belong. My daughter(who is much taller than I), often places things like spices on higher shelves in the cabinets and when I need them I have to get a chair and stand on it to reach them.

I have been on a reading binge myself. I think I am addicted to Iris Joansen books. I have been reading her books for at least over 6 months now. Her stories are really good right now I am reading "Stalemate by her. or maybe it is the charcters I like like Eve Duncun. After I read the first book with her in it I wanted more books from the same series. I also like Dean Koontz and Stephen King books but here latly it has been Iris Joansen.

You've got to read Quicksand by Johansen, Shaun! I just finished reading it a couple of weeks ago and it tied together some of the characters from another Johansen series with Eve Duncan. I won't give away any more of the storyline.I'm itching to get my hands on the latest Odd Thomas book by Dean Koontz and just finished reading a good one by him. I also read Duma Key by SK, which made me want to speak to him personally about what was going through his mind when he wrote the book-as usual.

Yeah I want to get Quick Sand pretty soon as well as The Duma Key by Stephen King. I am also into the Odd Series by Dean Koontz. It is really neat how how wrote a book about someone named Odd but it is like Odd is telling the story as you read it.It is great to read about them. Thank you so much for the information.

I suffer from a compulsive behavior, which is checking my door several times after I lock it when I leave my house. I sometimes get in my car, and then have to get out, walk back upstairs to make sure the door is locked.

I am obsessive when it comes to my home being clean and making money and paying my bills on time. I am also obsessive about keeping my yard straight and the grass cut also. I cannot stand for my things to be unorganised either. Everything has to be in its place and I have to feel like I have accomplished as much as I can daily.

As someone who used to be much the same, stephcjh, I understand completely. I am no longer as fastidious as I once was due to medical problems, but I do try.

Well we do share one real obsession..books...I have quite a sizable collection of books myself. And I took like quiet times..When I first get up is my quiet time..I'm a very slow riser and don't feel quite "awake" until I've gone out of the apt for awhile to do whatever kind of errand I need to do, just to be with the outdoors and people..I'm kind of obsessive in that I just can't make phone calls either until I've been out for awhile...like by being out clears the cobwebs from my mind or something...once I'm home then tackle any important calls I need to make..LOL

The "old folks" used to have a saying, pyewacket, about not being able to hear yourself think and that's what my quiet time means to me. I have to be able to hear myself think. A nice young man was out to check on my computer the other day and we got into a discussion about books and reading. I learned that he loves Sci-Fi books so I surprised him when he returned by gifting him with four books that I know I'll probably never get around to reading. He was stunned and told me that my gifts made him feel like it was Christmas. That really warmed my heart.

I am obsessive about my husband, my daughter, good food and exercise. I just love my husband to pieces. I can't get enough of his love and his touch. We have been together for two whole years and I still melt when he touches me and I still crumble at the mere sound of his voice. I love good food. Period. I also love to exercise. It makes me feel good about myself. Most of all I love my daughter. She makes me so happy and I just can't enough of her laugh and her little cute smiles. I even love her cries. She is the best thing that has happened to me.

Those are all worthy things to be obsessive about, leatherandlatex. I would say you are fairly average when it comes to obsession.

I am very very obsessive about punctuality.Everything should be a clock work precise for me.I hate people coming late on an appointment and I am never late for any occasion. If a person is late for more than five minutes for an appointment I just leave the place without seeing that person. They learn a lesson about me.

I am totally obsessive about the gym! as well as getting a great body, because that will build my self esteem up and I strive to get the perfect physique, in fact it has become an obsession, I go 4 times a week and do a weekly gym challenge, I was ill this week hit by a flu bug and a tummy bug and yet I STILL went to the gym, if I don't go I get depressed, miserable and I feel I am cheating myself I then look at my body and I feel it's not getting any better! So I have to go, I drag myself to the gym, it does me good too cos I sweat the germs and bugs out. I push my body to the limit and burn off excess amount of calories, I can be in the gym for 2 hours at a time. Running, cycling, stepping, and weightlifting. I wish I could go more than 4 times but I have to give my body a rest otherwise I won't be any state to go LOL! The gym is my life it means everything to me and it's my way of battling the evil demons I have inside me, like hatred, anger and depression.

I have to back up mummymo's caution that you not overdo, wolfie. Looking at your photo it's evident that whatever you're doing is really working. You look pretty hot to this old girl.

LOL..I'm obsessive about something I should worry about the least....making my bed...it is like some weird ritual...I begin making it while I am still in it...and finish the moment I am out...it has to have all the sheets turned back just right and the coverlet in place...then all the foofoo pillows stacked up... ( my husband is a dear...he just pitches them in a pile when he gets in first!!) So that's my obsessiveness...oh... I used to be a neat freak also...but gave it up long ago...my other obsessive trait would be the night before I leave on a trip..I wash all my rugs in my kitchen and hall...and vacuum and sweep and make sure it's all neat and clean so when I come home I don't have to worry about it!! Funny...when I'm home I'm not nearly so worried about keeping it that way!! LOL

Your comment about washing the rugs and doing the floors before you go away reminded me of my sister, rx4life. She does the exact same thing! There is something to be said for coming home to a neat and orderly house.

Pyjamas! Seriously whilst some women are obsessive about shoes with me it is pyjamas! lol Ever since I have had my back problems and bee unable to get around too much I spend most of my time in my pyjamas if I am not going out! It hurts for me to dress so what is the point - I would rather get changed into clean pjs after my 'ablutions' than change twice a day into clothes and then back to pj's - much more comfortable! xxxx

I have a fit over mud being track through my house! Oh, I so hate when my son has his four wheeler working and waaits until it rains and takes it out and ruins part of my yard and then will clean it off in my driveway where the main door is into the house. I have now put up signs for No Mud areas, like in the house, driveway, front porch.
Drives me nuts and they also take their clothes off and just leave them in a big pile and think that I am going to clean these clothes out and put them in my washer! No way. I have health issues and I CAN NOT go out there and clean all of the mud out of the clothes.
This week when the trash runs, I will throw out all of the clothes that have NOT been cleaned so they can be washed. My boys are 19, 18, 15(ownes the 4 wheeler), and 13. They are old enough to do this themselves.
There was also a time, around Christmas, that I would always buy yarn for my loom knitting. I had SO much yarn that I didn't have any place to put it. I did end up bagging it up and giving 3/4 of it away to a very nice lady that loves to loom knit baby hats and toys for the children that go to the school she works for when the child is going to get a new brother or sister. She has 3 young children of her own and her husband is getting some Masters degree for something, so he does not work right now and they couldn't afford to buy yarn.
Good question.

I agree, kaysue, that your boys are indeed old enough to take some of the work load off of you. I had 4 girls and taught them to start taking on responsibility as soon as I felt they could handle it. It was a very nice gesture to give the yarn to someone who could put it to such a great use.

I'm obsessive about my gadgets and my things. I hate people messing with my things and most of the times it makes me angry. Very Angry. I dunno why this obsession started, but I think I can point it to this. My parents never bought me things I usually wanted when I was a child. And when I got some thigna I cared for them more than anything. Now this is turned into obsession. And I think its a good thing to have because I find that people tend to take things for granted if you are not strict with them about ur possessions. I'm also obsessive about food and I seldom share my food.

It is understandable, bourne, that we don't like others messing with our things. I feel much the same way. When I had better circumstances I never minded sharing my food but I now live on a tight budget and can't afford to do it anymore.

Sorry to hear that.... I used to share food, until I joined college. The thing is, most people do not bring their own lunch boxes. And outside food everyday is a costly affair. So my mother packs lunch for me. These people just take a whole lot of share of my lunch if I start sharing. And I won't be left with enough to support me through the day's sport and all. SO I just stopped sharing food. Although I will never share electronics.

I can be obbssesive at times with true crime stories.I often watch different true programs on crime if I find a story that interests me i will research it and find out all the information I can
I also have found two cases where I agree with many people that the people are innocent. Those cases I follow closely to see if anything comes up with their cases. Both have many supporters helping them to get new trials and it could happen.
These are my obsessions.
