Do you think society is bad?

I was writing an essay for my English final a week ago and the question was "What are the parallels between today's society and that in Tale of Two Cities (the book)" So, I began writing my essay, and the further I got into it, the more it strayed from Tale of Two Cities, and the more it got into how society in general corrupts itself, therefore making a successful society a paradox of itself. The very last sentence of my essay was "The world is just a never-ending cycle of death and pain, learn to deal with it the best you can." First of all, I was kinda depressed after writing that essay, and then I started to think. My thoughts rambled all over the known spectrum of reason going into politics and pop culture and native Amazon tribes. After a couple days of retrospect, I eventually came to realize that because a society cannot stay out of corruption for more than a few centuries (Ancient China and Egypt being the only exceptions), the society in question must have already been corrupted from the beginning. And since the human brain is the only constant in all these examples, humans therefore corrupt what they themselves created in order to stop the corruption. So after all this time rambling around in my head, I thought I would put a very concise summary of my thoughts on here and see what you thought of it. Thanks! (I might pop in a time or two to add more mindless ramblings)

I think the bad thing is how humans are able to be influenced by other humans, If we would all just back off and think for ourselves, I don't think "society" would be a problem.

I agree, but not 100%. We absolutely need to stand back and think for ourselves, but I think there is more to it than that. If we stand back and think for ourselves, our ideals will clash, therefore creating new conflicts in our own personal "societies". You will then use what you know from previous societies in history to build up strength and support for your idea, and in the end there would be a select few ideals left, putting us right back where we started. I honestly don't know what we can do to stop it, and the way to stop this never ending cycle of conflict is the answer to the world's problems.
