Has to fully understand a song's lyrics

It is important for me to fully understand the lyrics of a song. This may be the reason why I'm into ballad and love songs as its easier to know the lyrics the first time I heard the song. Anyone here who shares the same sentiments?

I can TOTALLY relate!! If a song has meaningless lyrics it doesn't matter how good the beat is I discard it IMMEDIATELY!! What is the point of a song if it has no meaning. It is nice to know I am NOT the only one to feel this way

Thanks for this. I know people same as my age who are into danceable songs but when asked what the song is all about, they can't explain it. I usually search for the lyrics first and if I found that I like it, then I'll listen to it.

I also love ballads and love songs and Im able to easily memorize the lyrics because of the interest. A like the quality of Val Iglesia...Ahhhm, Julio Iglesias' songs. They are timeless.

I agree that Julio Iglesia's songs are timeless. He's one of the great singers of all times.

I really like to understand what an artist is talking about in their songs. Some songs it might take me a while to fully understand its meaning but usually I get it off the bat. Also, going to an artists website, blog etc or hearing others opinions about a song helps you to understand the meaning better, so I feel.
