Ok, there is a parting of the ways with the parents, why does it seem the courts go with the mother in placement? It is not always the best place to for the children. Sometimes it is the very last place they should be.

I have seen a few cases where the child ends up with the dad. My friend got divorced from his wife and she was one that liked to party and really just wasn't the great of a person and he has full custody and the son goes to stay with her once a month for the weekend. So I think most of the time the court is pretty fair. But I have also seen casese that makes no sense to me.

But to go back into court and prove her unfit,is not an easy thing to do. And after child support there is not money to get a lawyer. If a lawyer or judge could see the the kids and how they beg and plead to stay with their dad. It would make them cry, if not they have no heart at all.
My grandchildren will not even take any gifts home to moms that they get from us or dad. Grand daughter says and I quote, " Grandma, I will leave my stuff here, that way I know I have it and it won't get thrown away, you will take care of it for us" cause mom always moves or the boyfriend will break it. She is 6 yrs. old.

It's pretty much ingrained into our beliefs that children need their mothers. Women are supposed to have a mother's instinct. There's also the belief that mothers are just naturally closer and more understanding than fathers. That's not always the case, and it devalues fatherhood, but I think it would take convincing that the mother is a bad person to place the children with, before they consider the father. All things being equal, it's likely children would be placed with the mother.
