I go to staples for a flash drive (long story short, I have a new mp3 player that I cannot use without a flash drive). I wonder for a while not finding them, so I ask an older man who works there for help. He shows me where they are, and stands back while I look. The cheaper one that I wanted doesn't work on our operating system, windows ME (yuck!!). So, I ask if he knows which ones will work, so I don't have to read the fine print on every box. He tells me that there are no companies that make flash drives that will work on ME. That surprised me quite a bit. Sure, ME sucks...a lot, but people do still use it so why wouldn't anyone make one? So, I'm sad now, because I have to return my mothers day present (my mp3 player). I decide to do it tomorrow though. And, I'm very sad about it. Well, I do a bit of research online(took a whole 20 seconds) and what do I see? Walmart.com has a whole selection of flash drives that work on ME. Wow, it's like they made them just for my computer! So, I'm so glad that I didn't take my mp3 player back today. Now I can keep it, I'll just have to order the flash drive online, and it will definitely be a pain in the butt trying to get this computer to recognize it, but, they DO make them. I wish he would have just said "I have no idea." Why do people that don't know something, just make up an answer? Seriously.

I share your pain in people at the store making up a bunch of bull. It is pretty sad if you ask me. I had the same thing happen to me yesterday at the store. My brother needed some medicated stuff that you can buy over the counter. I couldn't find it so I asked the pharmacist if they knew where it was located. All 3 pharmacists just stood there and stared at me and said duh. I think if you are a pharmacist and the product I needed which you buy at a pharmacy. I was so aggrovated cause it was not only one person but three people who have never heard of it. I couldn't beleive it. I even turned around and asked I thought you guys are pharmacists? So one of them points to a piece of paper on the wall. I started laughing and said just cause you have a piece of paper on the wall doesn't mean that you are a pharmacist. Needless to say I tried again today at a different store. The lady I asked did the same thing meanwhile the pharmacist that was working in the back said hold on I will show you where it is. Like how hard is it just to tell a person that they don't carry it and make a person sit there and search through all these dumb aisles and look like an idiot in the process. They just stood there and watched me look for this product. Thankfully the last pharmacist knew what I was talking about and I finally got it.

The main reason is probably because Windows ME is no longer supported by Microsoft so finding anything that is "listed" as compatible with it is going to be a pain. Most hardware and software coming out these days are just not willing to admit to being compatible with it although they will say that it "may" work but is not a supported configuration. So, while the boxes may not say that they will work, technically, he would have been correct if he had stated that none of the flash drives that HIS store sells are compatible =)

I know, it's a total pain trying to find anything that will work on this stupid thing. Games don't work, software...nothing anymore. Granted, ME isn't great, but I wish they'd make something for it. Well, I guess if I'm wishing then I wish we could upgrade :)
