I want to ask that when you search some discussion for response then do you select that discussion because its author has high ranking or do you select it because it is a quality discussion and you are interested in it.
I am asking because i noticed that members with more mylot points' discussions get more responses.
What do you think about it?
Thanks

I don't take any notice of people's ranking or their post number when I respond to a discussion. I choose which ones I respond to on the quality of the post which starts the discussion and on the topic.
I read all my friends new discussions but I can't respond to all of them, as many will be about things which do not happen in my life.
I will look for new user discussions and respond if someone is asking for advice or has posted something I find of interest.
I will look in top dicussions and hot topics as well. These are often started by high ranking members, but that is because they are people who know how to start a good discussion.

I respond to discussions that interest regardless of the author's ranking. I may be able to explain why people with higher rankings get more responses though. When I come on mylot I check the discussions I have started and respond to them. After that I go to my friends' discussions. People who have been around longer will have more friends and therefore get more responses usually. However, if you put up a really interesting discussion you will get a lot of responses. I had one discussion get over 50 responses and my ranking is lower than yours.
I usually spend more time responding to discussions started by other people than to starting my own unless I come up with something I think is interesting. I have gotten quite a few friend requests. Quality responses to discussions will get you friend requests. So keep on posting and you will get more friends. Good luck!
