Today I see a news and I feel angry.

June 8, 2008 3:40am CST
This morning I saw a news from TV, a old man was knocked by a car , but the car was never stopped and went away. And no car stopped to help him ,no one went to help him ,Until a few minute later ,a police car passed the place and took him to hospital. I don't know whether a person call police .But I want to say we are so cruel and indifferent . Although we often say I will help anyone if he or she have a problem .But when things take place and someone need help . We become a coward . This event was recorded by some people . But I believe there are many event like this . I really hope our help and compassion is not just our mouth . We need take practical measures to help people . what your views? I hope I can share your opinions.

I think that not only should the people that ran him over should but found and charged with attempted murder but the people that bypassed him and didn't stop to help him should be found and charged with something, i don't know what, but something! I am a nurse and if i bypassed a wreck i could actually lose my license and go to jail!

I think this is BYSTANDER EFFECT. When we confront a accident ,we always think there will a person or police to help him . But I think this isn't a excuse ,all we have responsibilty if you are on the spot.

I saw this video on Yahoo. It happened in Hartford, Connecticut. Not only was I appalled that the car just kept going, but horrified that the pedestrians just stood there watching and, worse, cars just went around this man's body lying in the street! One car pulled over, but quickly left the scene when a policeman nearby showed up. I only hope forensics can get the license plate of the car that hit this man. Maybe they should change their name to Heartless, Connecticut!!! And I know, I know, Hartford isn't the only place things like this happen. PEACE

Since they have the car on video, the police should be able to view the license plate (provided the car has one) of the vehice and catch the S.O.B. that committed this hit and run. PEACE

I read a report about this yesterday and it made me angry too. Several people did call 911 within a minute of the accident, but nobody tried to stop the traffic around the old man, nobody stayed at his side until the emergency services arrived, people just looked and walked by. I could not do that. He is a human, he is probably someone's beloved father and grandfather. I hate the sight of blood and I have no idea about first aid, but I would still have gone into the road and waited with the man until professional help arrived.

This kind of situation is not rare in some developing countries. The government should be blamed for their incapacity to build a moral sociaty.

Well, it is becoming Sad when people never Stop to help someone anymore when things like this happen. I have always wondered what are they afraid of, and how can their conscience not bother them if the person was to die? I feel it is time people start taking more responsible for things instead of turning the other cheek and not want to get involved. This would truly make it for a better world indeed. Just my thoughts.

I feel so appalled that people nowadays are self ignorants. They only care to themselves and not willing to offer help. There are many incidents here where pedestrians and cyclists have been killed by cars but several of drivers of the cars failed to stop to offer assistance. Later some of them have turned up themselves at the police station and admitted their wrongdoing. I wouldn't do it, if I have crashed someone I would stop and will not have any intention to run away from the situation. Trust me any incident would haunt you if you failed to offer assistance...it will be just inside your mind all the times and you'll regret it. More and more people become self ignorants and of course become weird. I don't know why.

I have never witnessed an accident when somebody needed any help and I am glad of that. I think I would provide all the help I could, but that has never been put to the test yet, to see whether I really would or not. A short while ago one of my cousins told me that one of his friends was stabbed by somebody, but that nobody wanted to offer any help, as they did not want to dirty their car with the blood, or they were scared of being incriminated in some way by the Police. Finally I taxi driver took him to hospital, as we was bleeding profusely and could have been in serious trouble had he not done that.

I saw that video on the news too and was very disturbed by it! Can you imagine being in need of help and everyone just walking right on by? What were those other people thinking? I am not going to get involved because I don't know this person? The sad thing is, or society it training people just to be just like that. Uncaring and selfish. Pretty sad.

I feel sorry about this old man. and I am sorry to see those indifferent people. How they just do nothing but watching around, do they realize that is a life, a injured man need help. I think at least call the ambulance is what a human being should do when he meet such accident. I also saw the son of this injured man crying on the TV to ask for help, I think at that time, he is not only feel sad, but also disappoint.

It is a good thing to help other people, and I would think by law the people who witnessed it should have pulled over!

If I saw that in the news it would make me furious too. why cannot people stop and help someone who is indeed in trouble? it takes such a little bit of time and could well say someone's life. I also hope our help and compassion are not just in our mouths. A number of years back I worked as a nurses aid in a local hospital.on my day off two other nurses and I were having fun in the black hills when we saw an oil tanker that had turned on its side, and a man hanging by his seat belt. we got out and did what we could as far as first aid was concerned then my friend Dorothy got on her car phone and called for the paramedics. we stayed until the paramedics arrived then scooted back home in order not to be late for work, and as I checked in foundout I was needed on my day off so spent several hours picking gravel out of the mans arms, the s ame man whom we gave first aid to on our way back home.

Anytime a person can do something like that, they're evil. Thats why they have cameras on streets. If that person was ever found they should get life. Thats was really cruel. If I ever saw someone in a similar situation I would do as much as I could, even if I didn't know them. Its just the righteous thing to do

Wow, thats so very sad, i feel so sad for the victim. And yeah there aws no1 to help either, every1z got thier own thing to do i guess. Things like this ask a question if humanity really doesn exist or its slowly falling apart?
