Does anyone know of a program that is similar to a background desktop image but is also interactive?
Here's the thing I want to do. I have a lot of icons on my desktop. It would help a lot if I could make areas on the fly to group theses icons for organization. Create squares of different colored areas as I need them instead of the usual static background image.
Is it possible even?Or am I that techno-dumb?
I have looked and looked but I don't think I am wording my searches correctly. I say this to mitigate the one lined replies telling me to search Google. I have tried. Thanks in advance.

I would create a new folder with specific topic & put all the icons from my desktop in it: eg. all games in the folder names games, utilities in the folders utilities, etc.. This is what I do, it is fine for me... Or create a new user account with specific name...
Hope this is what you ask, sorry if I misunderstood..

Thats not what I need. I understand what you mean though. I use a lot of different programs and websites for business. I tend to keep them all on my desktop in a group. As I work I constantly find new and better tools that I copy and place with this group.
It would be so much easier If I could just create a Square or something color coded and drop the icon of the tool on that.
Lets say i find a program I want to check out later, but can't at the moment because I am busy, I would like to quickly place a red square on my desktop and then drop the icon on it. later when I am done I can check out the icon, and delete the square.
It would be something similar to MS paint but would automatically create a backgrond image for the desktop when you save.
