Two hours I was on the phone for, two hours!

This has to be a record for me in the talking on the phone stakes! I cannot believe that I have just been on the phone to my Mum for two hours.
I could not even tell you now what we talked about, and her bill is going to be a bit high because she phoned me on my mobile! I had all my day planned out as well and was trotting along quite nicely, but now I am two hours behind! Oh well, I will just have to work a bit faster now!
How long are you on the phone for with friends and family? Do you ever wonder where on earth you found all the conversation from to talk for ages?

2 hours is really normal for me to talk phone with friends that are living overseas. But my record is 4 hours that friend is really talktive and can talk about anything, so everyone like to talks with him. Sometimes when a phone conversation end within 1 hour will I think it's short and often because doesnt have much to talk with that friend.

LOL You are a mere novice my darling - I can do that easily! I often spend over an hour on the phone , hang up and then call back. The only reason I hang up and call back is cos we start getting charged after 70 minutes! lol What do I talk about - anything and everything, especially now i don't get out much! xxx

Two whole hours and on a mobile, your ears certainly must be burning eh! In the past I have been known to be on the phone for a couple of hours but usually if I haven't spoken to the person in a while or there is something important to discuss but one of my rabbits chewed through the cable of my walkabout one and now I have a fixed one that a neighbour has lent me and I just hate having to stay in one place cos usually I'll walk about make a cuppa, change channels for my son so I won't make calls and try and get off the phone as soon as possible for that reason and that alone really. Ellie :D

yep my ear was on fire when I came off! My mum and me have this thing that we do not phone each other much because it is always a long job!
The last couple of weeks though we have been talking once a week, last week it was an hour! Plus we have texted in between that and not much has happened so how on earth can we find that much to say for two hours. Mind you I am a little gas bag once I get going!

ive got some friends who can yap and yap forever without ever saying a damned thing. and a few that a 2 hour long call would be SHORT in comparison to the typical 8 hours worth of mind bending yap fest. if i do not end the call myself by saying "ok, ive gotta get going here, things to do!" theres this one friend who will just continually talk and talk and talk for the entire day long. i wish i was exagerating... LOL she will call early early in the morning.. if mals is home and answers it, he knows full well that im going to be stuck with the phone glued to my ear until well after dinnertime, and i wont get a damned thing done all day. i dont like to be rude and cut her off saying goodbye.. but i have to as there is never a break in her talking to even get a lull long enough to say bah bye.. so sometimes i will have mal call me on his cell to beep in on the conversation so i can bow out gracefully saying i have another call i have to take, i will talk to ya later. thats only worked a couple times though as her response is usually "oh i'll hold and waitll yer done on the other call!" and this is after prolly 4 hours already!!..;bangs head;.. i dont understand how ANYONE can WANT to stay on the phone for this amount of time, especially with 4 kids to tend to, but she does.. and often.

I'm terrible. I don't like phones and am not very good on them. I seem to only know how to say yes or no or just grunt and like to finish as soon as possible.
When my sister calls she prattles on and on for what seems an eternity but its all good.

My highest record was almost 8 hours both on phone and in cell phone. My conversation partner and me talked about so many things which is really nice, though my ears burn. It's really nice talking to someone on the phone. Well, it's expensive but it's worth it! :D

I am not a phone person at all. It is very rare that someone can drag me into a long conversation before I am trying to find a way to end it. Most of my friends are like me and so it is not a problem. They may call to see if I'm going to be home but mostly they just drop by. If they need something or need to talk about something important....I'm here. Still the conversations are not that long.....we prefer to hook up and talk in person. My mother however, was an exception. She would call me so so much. She did most of the talking and usually about nothing at all because she was housebound and lonely. It was very very frustrating as I had things to do. It wasn't that I didn't make time for her because I did. She has passed now and sometimes I think I'd rather be put behind schedule and held up for a phone call. I know I would.

Sometimes I'm on the phone for a while but rarely. When I am though I just get carried away and am not thinking about the time. Thats usually when people use the most time anyway. Most of the time I just get to the point. I'm not much of a phone talker.

Your ear must be pretty hot after talking for 2 hours on a cell phone. I know mine does anyway. I am known for talking a long time on the phone. I'm actually quite bad at it. Everyone always jokes that they are going to implant the cell into my head so I don't have to worry about it. The most I stayed on the phone was for 8 hours. Yes you heard right. 8 hours. I can't even tell you what we talked about as it was jumped all over the place. A friend that I haven't talked to in ages so obviously the stories were flying for us.

That reminds me of my mother and I when she was alive. The thing was that mom would find a lull in the conversation and tell me all the stories over again. Hard getting off the phone too sometimes. Enjoy!

The most I have been on if for twenty minutes. I am not that good talker. I leave that to my husband. He can have a real good conversation and when I asked what they were talking about, it is nothing. Maybe I should listen on the extension and find out what was so interesting. You know what you should have done? Have a signal arranged so you will know it is your mother, and then phone her back on your home phone. That is what my sister-in=law who is a snowbird does.

I think my hubby thinks I hide things from him because when he asks what was said, I just say "oh nothing important really!"

Your post reminded me of the lengthy conversations I used to share with my mother over the phone, gemini. She could really get long-winded when she had a mind to.I believe that as she got older she found me to be a good sounding board when she wanted to remember the old days. She often told me stories of our ancestors and the way life had been in her youth. I am not a person who enjoys talking on the phone for long periods of time but I did enjoy those times with my mom. I have a friend who used to call and we would stay on the phone for hours, but that has changed and we don't talk nearly so much anymore.

Yes it is nice to go over old times, although for me most of those were not nice as I was a real horror.
Perhaps we are making up for it now!

My best friend used to do the same thing to me. She would send me emails constantly until I emailed back. And, I would spend half an hour writing out an email and then my baby would wake up from her nap and my time online would be over. Yikes!

Hi gemini_rose, I know a lot of men who don't like the phone, but I have often talked with my brother or sister for over an hour. These are the longest conversations I have, but we talk about when we were younger and about our families. We also enjoy the same types of activities and read the same books. Blessings.

When ever my mum phones i think uh oh, and quickly grab a drink, cushion preparing myself for a LONG call lol half hour into call, we go to say bye, then she starts up again.. normally do last well over hour, by time i come away from phone.. my arm and shoulder aches.. and my ear ringing..
Dont speak to my mum much on phone and we live far apart, so when we do talk, there is normally much to talk about..
my son dreads this girl phoning him cos managed to keep him on the phone for over 2 and half hours, and he hates talking on phone for too long as says he never knows what to say, so she did well lol
