You Gotta Be Kidding Me!

I just had to laugh - seriously!
And can you blame me?
I was actually going to start a discussion on an entirely different topic, but when I went to choose from the many available "Discussion Interests", who should be staring out at me with his stupid grin?
Homer!
Who put that discussion interest in there anyway?
And can you believe it's already one of the top discussion interests?
Like I say - I couldn't help but laugh.
I reckon the Simpsons must be about the best known family in the world, outside of organized religion (if you keep Flanders out of it).
Well, I better give you something to chew on after all that - so who's your favorite?
Mine's actually Barney, but Homer comes a close second...

Ha, don't knock homer, he's the man when it comes to cartoon families that are still on tv. YOu know that they are still a running show after all of these years. Homer is just like Al Bundy/ from love and marriage. Just a better version, there are things that Homer does that Al didn't ever get to do. Also you have to admit that he makes you laugh even here in my lots.

Hi twallace,
You guys are reminding me of all my OTHER favorite shows with your responses.
I LOVED Al Bundy and all the others on "Married With Children"! Of course, that's what kick-started Christina Applegate's career, but I adored the lady from next door who Al always asked "Are you lost, little boy?" - her eyes were simply gorgeous.

I was an avid, devoted fan of the show 'Married With Children' for longer than any other television series I ever watched!
Before that, and maybe there is no one around here old enough to remember it, but before Al Bundy, there was Archie Bunker in 'All in the Family'. Although that show ended up getting on my nerves and I quit watching it, Married With Children never ever got on my bad side. Hehehe.

I remember the Simpson's from way back before they even had their own show. Back when I first saw them they were just a short little cartoon on the Tracy Ullman show back in the early 90's. My favorite character is probably Homer. He is just so darn dumb he is funny.

Hi lilybug,
You know, I remember the Tracy Ullman show all those years ago, and probably did see the Simpsons on her show. Thanks for reminding me of Tracy Ullman's excellent series - I liked when she always came out at the end in her dressing gown and told the audience to "go home!".

That's too funny, lilybug! I thought that I was the only one who remembered that show. Yeah, they were way funny. I put some of the Simpsons cartoons on my free movie blog. They're always lots of fun.

Hahahaha! Every time I have had some incredibly annoying situation in my life, no matter how personal, my son has had a 'Simpson's' episode that impossibly - yet perfectly and hilariously - captured it. It never fails to amaze me, and always lightens the mood!
Hehehe, I used to like the Tracy Ullman Show a lot too. In fact she is the voice of Bart, who also happens to be my favorite character on the Simpson's. Next comes Maggie. Actually, I think Maggie was Tracy Ullman's voice too, I don't really remember, but I do know that she did the voices of a few characters. If anyone else knows who they were I would be happy to have my memory refreshed!

Gawd, I think I was pretty stoned when I wrote that, ummm, just a few minutes ago, otherwise I have no idea what came over me. Tracy Ullman is most certainly not the voice of Bart.

Hehehe, looks like somebody else is having difficulty with names tonight too! Bart's voice is done by Nancy Cartwright, although you were WAY closer to the target Dragon54!

Angela Cartwright is Bart's voice.
I love Tracy Ullman!! She's brilliant. I really like the depressed tow truck driver and all her other characters.

I never really liked the Simpsons much and didn't allow my kids to watch it when they were young because that family was so dysfunctional. When they were a little older and could understand parody I let them watch but only because their dad was a fanatic about the show--that show and anything else on the idiot box! If I had to pick a favorite character, it'd be Willy or Abu.

Hi dragon54u,
I'm actually intrigued about where dragons came from (or perhaps more accurately, where they went to if they were actually here at some point).
I'm rather persuaded from a variety of unrelated sources that giants were a reality. And Goliath was a grasshopper in comparison to some of them.
The thing about dragons is - they show up in just about every culture on the planet. And most such things have their basis in reality somewhere along the line.
Just like Homer and the crew - a salute to bygone times.

I don't think so, I just love dragons. I collect pewter dragons and have at least one in every room of my house.

I like grounds keeper Willy. He's so tough and weird. He always makes me laugh every time he comes on screen. I love the scene where Homer is taking the grease from the school cafeteria and Willy comes after him yelling, "Nooo, my retirement grease!" lol It's so funny.

I like magie even though she never says anything, whenever she is in a scene I can't keep my eyes off her.
