okay so is it just me or is it sooooo frustrating that some people: -just can't type -don't know english but attempt it anyway -are just too lazy to really type legibly DONT YOU JUST HATE IT?!?! i mean seriously. you can't expect people to answer your discussions or even be able to read them if they look like this: How you have long been Mylot? Your star how is your star? I have joined mylot a week ago i like this and am on a bumpy road on toward being another star. not to offend anyone, but if you don't know english well enough for us to understand you, i dont think you should post here. and if you can't type or are just too lazy and your responses look like this: "yo 4sure i no wut u m33n." NOBODY likes reading l33t speak. So please, try and keep it READABLE! [[sorry, i really dont know how you can respond to this unless you just want to add on or agree with me or challenge it, thats fine. this was basically just a post to rant]]

A lot of people come on here to practice and improve their English, if you believe their English or typing is not up to your standards then simply do not read it or reply to it! There is no excuse to hurt peoples feelings by being nasty and hateful. But since you are only 15years old i will chalk it up to youth and not flat out meanness! And even if YOU can't take the time to try to understand them there are a lot of people that don't mind spending a few extra minutes to converse with people that are intresting!

im sorry i didnt mean to come off as being nasty and hateful. its just that, im sick of every other post i see being in broken english. it makes this site very unattractive, and as a web designer I notice the little things that bug me.

I am glad that you weren't being deliberately hateful. I myself enjoy speaking with people from all over and am just glad that they are trying to learn English (a lot of people that actually live in the U.S.A. doesn't bother)because i cannot speak a foreign language and would have miss my conversations with them.

I might add to my previous comment, ozkid, that you could take a look at your own posts if you feel like being pedantic. The use of a lower case 'i', for instance - and 'im' instead of 'I'm'. We can all get picky if we choose, but don't forget the old saying about people in glass houses ...

Well, one thing we need to remember, is that there are a lot of people in here that are very active from all over the world. Sometimes many will even admit, that English is their second language, and maybe they can learn more of it by taking time to post here. I know I have seen a lot of people who will even admit it on here, and that should not make us want to respond to them. What if you were in their Country, and were forced to speak their language, or not accepted, and helped at all? Just my thoughts.

People who write posts and are not proficient at English don't bother me. I think some of them sound like your example because they write in their native language and run it through a translation service and then post the results?? I could be wrong, and I'm not saying everyone does this... I agree that l33t speak is annoying and I usually avoid reading it. But the one thing that irritates me to no end is when people type in ALL CAPS. That gets on my nerves more then anything. And it's even worse when it's all caps and misspelled. Ugh!

ozkid92 you should be a tad more compassionate towards people who have English as their second language. It takes time for them to learn how to use english and to' make it into proper sentences. give them a little more leeway. We who are born here do not realize how hard it must be to learn English and learn how to apply it to make worthwhile discussions with it. As for typos we all make them and we check yet we often see the darned typo when its too late to remedy it. Its just too easy to make fun of someone's English but according to MyLot rules you should not do so.Give them a break.

good day if they're genuinely new in learning English then I think they deserve a chance. Its really hard to learn a second language specially when that language is far in terms of form and basic structure from that of your mother tongue. example a Frenchman or Spaniard can have an easier time understanding English cause they use alphabets as compared to the Chinese and Koreans.

Em well, I don't really know what to say while reading your discussion. I know my people - Malaysian, most of them use broken English and you might not understand it. But you have to understand that English is our second languages after BAHASA MELAYU. It's quite hard for those who don't have enough money to go for English classes and you expect them to be good in it? Well, you can't expect people to be good in it while you were born to be one of the people who can speak English very well. Some of us were lucky to be born with family who speaks English more than our own language and they learn it since they was a baby. I admit, even my English sometimes are bad, but I'm still learning it. I have a father who is really good in English, yet he is still learning. We need someone like you - who knows English very well - to teach us. Example, "im". You can post saying ' hey, it's actually I'm, not im ' And i don't think they'll get mad when you were just trying to help. Sorry if this annoys you as much as you annoys people who cant speak in English very well. But i think it's not wrong to post a discussion atlho they use a broken English. Perhaps you can spend a few mins just to make yourself understand of what they're trying to say. And try to learn our language - BAHASA MELAYU, and you'll know. Take care!

If people are from other countries and they are learning English, I understand the fact they are trying to learn and they should be commended. On the other hand the people who are native English speakers and received an education in the good old US of A should have some kind of mastery of the language. I would think that they would read what they write and see how other people write and then wonder who is right. They should want to make themselves better just as the people in other countries are trying to better themselves.

Everyone has a right to be here, if you cant make out a discussion than ignore it. Mylot is available to people to people all over the world, and not everyone speaks English well. If they want to be here than they should be, I have never had any trouble with any discussions, yes they are hard to make out sometimes but the gist if it is always there. And no offense but your post was not that easy to read either. No capitals at the beginning of your sentences, whats up with that and some of your sentences are not that easy to make out!

I'm a bit of a grammar and punctuation freak normally, but I think it's good people are communicating and getting their ideas out there - and also that they are making friends with new people. The older I get, the more tolerant I feel myself becoming. There's a lot more to a person than the way they spell and speak, after all.

I sometimes see chat boards where i just can't read what has been typed so i give up. Think some people must type in code so that only certain people know what they are taking about. Sometimes think it might be a computer glip, bust i must agree with you, drives you round the bend
