ive heard that people can have the ability to remember things just as they are. i think that that is crazy. having the ability to remember things just by taking a mental picture should be considered a super power. i wonder if they count it as cheating in the schooling systems. Students wouldnt have to study if they could just remember things exactly as they are by taking this mental picture. Man do i wish i had photographic memory ----------------------------------------------------------------------!

There are degrees of photographic memories and I don't think I have the power you're suggesting. These are my experiences. It's not as complicated as it sounds. If I'm trying to remember words, I close my eyes and I can 'see' the words on the paper of a book or my own handwriting when I jot down numbers or ideas. I remember passwords that way. I close my eyes and 'see' the index card where I wrote it down. I can see all the notes on the page, or I can see the pattern and order of the words. I remember what pages or words 'look like' in relation to something else, if that makes sense. It's not cheating, you do have to study as a student. You learn from the words you read, not by taking a snapshot without studying. Maybe that's a lesser form of a super power. I don't think of it as photographic memory because it doesn't always work. Did you watch "Spy Game"? Robert Redford tries to teach Brad Pitt to take a snapshot of a room, evaluate and dismiss it. If there is a threat, you're trained to recognize patterns of human behaviour. That's a vague explanation. You have to see the movie.

Omgsh I totally know what your talking about. Natural photographic memory is incredibly rare, such as the guys son who's above me. It is possible to have trained photographic memory however. Not to raise your hopes, but it's an incredibly long and difficult process to gain it. In addition the people with trained photographic memory cannot remember things as well as people who have it naturally. I heard its a requirement for most spy and infiltration soldiers. Lol... but thats probably a rumor started by war fanatics. Incredible though. I saw a youtube video. There was a list of 100 words, the guy looked at it, closed his eyes, and read down the list. It's like looking through pictures you took. Sometimes people notice things they didn't notice before when they actually took the mental picture.

Yes there are persons who are gifted with this blessing. Every one has a talent moose maybe what you can do another one cannot. So be thankful with the talent that God give to you. What you should do is study and tried to use what will make you be successful.

Well I don't know if what I have you would consider a photographic memory but I remember anything that I read and most of what I hear. I don't think that people that suffer from this actually consider it a super power because the brain does start to get annoyed about remembering all the text you have seen. My son has the ability to memorize text, for the longest time we thought he was able to read but he really couldn't he had just remembered it all from having it read to him once. In his case it was bad because he was in first grade and didn't know how to read and we all thought that he did.

Hey, I used to wish for this when I was still studying! Lol! But I have a friend who has a vivid memory. She can even remember discussions that we had months ago. Ask me what we've talked about a day or two before and I can't even remember that. We can probably practice it, you know, sort of acquiring that skill. But it may not work for me, I can't even remember where I last put my glasses :)
