What's the strangest food combination have you come up with?

Granted, I'm not pregnant but someone had to come up with the whole peas and carrots, ice creame and warm pie, PB&J...foods like that to satisfy the whole nation of hungry people. Some of these foods are comfort, others out of pure necessity. But, did you ever wonder, "How did someone come up with this combination?" Today, I was eating a bowl of plain rice and decided I wanted some ice creame. I still had a little rice on the bottom and was too lazy to clean it out, so I scooped out the coffee flavoured ice creame right ontop of my rice. So hungry was I, I didn't care. But, it turned out better than I thought. The grains of soften rice was a pleasant compliment to the cold liquid of the melting ice creame. Hhhmmm...it would best be described as almost having sugar wafers bits. What about you, what's the strangest food combination have you come up with and do you still like it?

I love chilled corn kernels with soy sauce and pepper. I guess it's the combination of sweet and salty. But it's darn good. I could just eat a can of corn as my dinner. If I'm in a mood for something hot, then I microwave the corn with butter and salt. I don't know how weird this is, but it's very tasty!

Oh, out of all the responses thus far, I think yours sounds the tastiest...meaning: I'd actually would have to try it out. Here in Arizona, we have Mexican peddlers coming around with their specialty. One of them is corn on the cob with mayo (or butter) slathered on it, then some chili pepper sprinkled all over it, then, topped with grated parmesan cheese! Now, if you're wanting to go further, some would put lemon juice, but that never was my style.

Also, in high school, I would put chips in my sandwich which gave great texture to every bite. I preferred cheesies, but any chip will do. Ruffled ones are crunchier though. :)

Hi Kaeli - thanks for the best response! I really appreciate it. :) Let me know if you try this snack out. It is very satisfying if you ever feel the need to just be "munching" on something because it's there's a bit of *crisp* in every bite and it's not mushy. I also find that I will eat it a few kernels at a time, a whole half can serving can last awhile. Thus, I don't end up eating that much and feeling all disgusting afterwards.

I do not know if this is a strange combination but I do this sometimes, I eat ripe mangoes with rice. I know many people eat rice and mangoes separately but I leave some rice for when I want to eat my mango which is after the meal so I am in effect eating a meal right when others are eating dessert. Yummy!

Sounds...good? I'm not going to be brave enough to try that, but I'll take your word for it that it was good.

I dont know how it started, but one day I was eating chocolate chip cookies and milk, and decided to add maple syrup to the milk. I put the milk into a cereal bowl and add the syrup, and break the chocolate chip cookies into the bowl and eat it almost like cereal, with each scoop I get a bit of maple syrup, milk and chocolate chip cookie on the spoon...its soo good! Everyone thinks I'm nuts for doing it though!

Hate to say this...but that sounds like a major sugar overload for me. But, doesn't the cookies get too soggy? Now, the milk and maple sounds good (that's a drink I read about here in Arizona...called "Cactus milk").
