Many people seem to be trying to lose weight. I think exercise is the best way to lose weight. I read an article about the same. what else do you think are other options excluding dieting?

Just do something that you enjoy, like dancing. If you are athletic then do sports to loose those extra pounds. If your are OCD then you cleaning the house will help. And of course eat healthy. Eat more vegetables and fruits in your diet. I have know people who turned vegetarian and I see them loosing weight and they have nice skin too.,

Hello, florencemanoharan. Welcome to myLot.
I don't think exercise alone is enough. I believe you have to pay attention to how you are eating as well. Also, when I want to drop a few pounds I always find it helpful to increase my water intake.

I purchased this workout dvd its called turbo jam and its a fun workout that both the young and the old can enjoy and benefit from. I am also struggling to lose weight. After giving birth, weightloss is like a yoyo to me. I lose some then gain some. This workout really made me feel good about myself.
First things's first. Discipline. Know what you want. Have a mind set. Cut some fatty food intake. I learned in Turbo Jam about the WWIW. So if you see a chocolate cake, think for yourself..What Would I Want more? this cake or a nice body :P
Second, Breathe well. If we dont breathe well, we get stressed out. Hence slower metabolism and we get more prone to hunger. Most of us eat our feelings.
Third, eat slowly and chew your food well. It takes only 20 minutes to get full. make sure you eat healthy if though if you can.
Fourth, if you have cravings, wait and dont stand next to the refrigerator. Go watch your fave chickflick. Cravings go away after 2-5 minutes.
Five, move! start with a cool workout. Do the hulahoop, or dance a little. take your dog for a walk or go biking. For me, window shopping works. I walk til i drop.
Six, look in the mirror and be proud of what youve done. The rest will follow, Good looks, trim and healthy body.

Hi florence. I truly believe people who want to lose weight need to have a healthy balance of exercise and diet. I know the term "exercise" deters a lot of people because they don't want to expend the energy or money to go to the gym. But what many don't realize is that just by walking half an hour a day at a pretty good pace will help you tone down. I used to walk home from work everyday which took about 35 minutes, and without me even realizing it, I had dropped a few inches. It didn't even seem like working out. So I would highly recommend walking as a great beginners method to losing weight.
And of course, watch what you're eating. I don't ever believe in restricting yourself from eating the foods you love. Rather, I believe you should moderate it. If you love chocolate or ice cream or chips, as I do, go ahead, but in smaller quantities that you usually would and not as often. Try looking at these foods as rewards after a great day or week of walking. Hope that gives you or other people on this site some things to think about.
