Barbecue! Do you have the right tools for the job?

Aaah, summer! We can all enjoy the smells and sounds of the neighbours incinerating a week's worth of groceries....!
We have been hooked on barbecues for some years but only recently have I discovred the joys of all those specially made implements, like the basket shaped like a fish to put a whole one in?
What about the cage to put your burgers in so you can flip them easily?
And ho could live without the four-pronged kebab-cooker?
Do you use these tantalising tools or do you just shove everything onto the grill and hope for the best?

Sounds like you are well into the joys of a good barbecue! Have you had any with the lovely weather we have been having here in UK last couple of days?
We have a barbecue and a few tools but nothing really special, it all just gets chucked on it and taken off when it is cooked! I think we have a load of metal skewers for kebabs though, thats about it.

Yes, we did our first 'real' barbecue on Saturday night this week and it was, as you say, glorious. Made change not to be standing over a few miserable damp embers with a golf umbrella trying to defrost a sausage!!! LOL!

Saturday here was not very nice, but Sunday and today are just gorgeous, I have sat on my doorstep twice today and nearly dozed off in the sun! Hope your barbecue was nice!.

LOL. I have such a tiny yard that I don't have a BBQ but I go to others when invited. In fact yesterday a neighbour had bought a new one and wanted to try out so I got to sample and thoroughly enjoyed. They just had the basic tools none of these specal ones you mentioned above and it cooked and worked well. Ellie :D

We have a turn around cage thing to allow us to cook a whole chicken easily, but other than that I reckon all you need is some wood and some meat. Maybe some silver foil too if you want to grill some veggies.
I know someone who makes fabulous sausage holders for the barbeque. They are shaped like little men. I'll leave it to you imagination where the sausage is held!

Being an Aussie, you would think I have a barbeque, but we don't. It isn't easy to save up for something that isn't a 'must have to function on a daily basis' item, so buying one is low on the priority list right now.
maybe in the future, we will get one, but until then, back to the good old oven!
