Re-released on dvd: Roswell - The TV Series

Did you ever watch the Roswell tv series about a group of alien/human hybrid teens that have to live amongst regular humans and the relationships they build with other teens? This was a fantastic series with great character development and interesting plotlines. The series did struggle a bit in the beginning of the third season, but picked up again to finish with a bang.
I purchased all 3 dvd's when they first came out and had mixed emotions when I learned that they were re-releasing it in May. On one hand, I was disappointed to see the reasoning behind it was to capitalize on the recent popularity of Katherine Heigl, who many will know from Grey's Anatomy. I personally love Katherine Heigl as an actress and think she is beautiful. However, she was never the main character of Roswell and the re-released dvd covers prominently display her character in front of all the other characters, somewhat misleading new viewers to think her part in the series is bigger than it actually is. On the other hand, it is a great opportunity for the show to pick up new fans.
Anyway, I would highly recommend this series to people who are looking for other shows to watch while the summer tv haitus is on. You can pick up the dvd sets pretty cheap, the older ones anyway.

It was a great show. I enjoyed it very much. I watched it during its original run. Ocassionally I catch the re-runs on the Sci-fi channel. But I think I will wait to purchase the dvds. Money needs to go into the gas tank.

Yah, I know what you mean. I bought the dvd's when they first came out and they were expensive. And not two months later, the prices were more than 50% less than what I had purchased them for. I was livid! Regardless, I am very happy with the dvds and watch them over and over again. I suggest looking for the old packaging when you buy these dvd's, because those will probably be sold at lower prices than the newly released ones. And the dvd's are exactly the same. So there's no real point buying the new ones, unless you just want to ogle Katherine Heigl on the cover. ;)

Ooh! I'm glad to hear you like it! It is a great series and one that was totally underated, in my opinion. I loved the Michael/Maria storyline - they were so cute together. But I especially liked all the conflict that the characters had to go through, balancing their alien life and their human life. And I really liked Colin Hanks in it - it's so strange because you can totally see that he looks like a mix between his mom and dad (Tom Hanks/Rita Wilson). His character on Roswell is so lovable.
