Just one last drink before I go to bed.

Late last night, just before midnight my son came down and offered to make us a drink. Understand that when he offers to make a drink it is an offer not to be sneezed at and so even though I was wanting to go to bed I decided that one more coffee could not possibly hurt, he may never offer again.
WRONG, he made it that strong I am surprised my hair is not still standing on end! And could I sleep, no chance. I had coffee coursing through my veins literally all night causing me to toss and turn, I would doze and then the slightest noise I would be awake and could not get back to sleep.
Needless to say that today I am shattered and have twice nearly dozed off sitting in the sunshine and so yet again I have had something late at night that I should not have done and has caused me to suffer the next day! For tonight, I have bought myself some low fat horlicks!
Lesson learned, drinking coffee late at night, especially strong coffee made by my son is liable to keep me awake!
Have you ever had a caffeine drink late at night that has then kept you up?
Do you have a bedtime drink? If so what drink do you have?
Does it help you to get a good nights sleep?

I dont like coffee, I did when I was younger but my grandma weaned me off it and I cant even stand the smell now. I can just about make coffee for other people without the smell making me feel ill!!
I tend to have a drink of juice or a hot chocolate depending on the weather!! I do have odd nights where I struggle to sleep through the night.
Im sure you have learned your lesson by not having a coffee before bed!! lol

This question is right up my alley...lol. I actually drink coffee at all hours. It really doesn't bother me. I can doze off with a coffee in my hand. I think some people are more sensitive to caffeine than others. Or maybe we build a tolerance to it.
It's sweet your son wanted to make it for you. I have a 12 tear old daughter and she will make me coffee when I have a rough day, but it's always a crap shoot, although she has gotten much better lately...lol.

I think that I am tolerant of it, but my son made it way too strong, which is because I bought a different brand!

LOL. I am sorry that your sons kindness would not let you go to sleep. I work nights so I was up all night anyway. I did drink me some coffee also. It keeps me awake too sometimes. I really do not have a bedtime drink. I do like to drink milk though. It helps me to sleep sometimes. It fills me up just enough but not too much.

I have tried that gemini when I was still in College, I will do it just to stay late and study. I remember one day during my examination, I was like staring at the questionnaire and I can't remember anything. I blame myself for over dozing myself with caffeine.I asked our professor to extend my time since I was not feeling well as an excuse, good thing he was considerate or else I will failed that time..LOL!

Normally I am fine no matter how much caffeine I have, I think it was because it was so close to bedtime and it was SO strong.

Oh oh honey that fatal cup of coffee just before bed, been there done that and yep it really does mess up your sleep! So nice that your son offered though - I can understand why you didn't refuse! Horlicks is a much better idea - specially nice with ginger nuts or hob nobs to dunk in it! lol xxx

coffee doesnt affect me un less its iced.. an thats from alla the sugar i put in it.. not the coffee itself. i dont put alot of sugar into hot coffee, but iced gets a wallop. i normally have a cup or two late at night when the house is quiet and i can actually drink a cup without interuption and relax and enjoy it.. coffee or tea.. doesnt matter really, and most of the time i get to sleep and stay that way just fine.

I always have a cup of coffee before I go to bed. It doesn't keep me up. The only time it does is when I end up drinking a few cups LOL

See the positive side of this. You son actually making a cup of coffee for you. Well well, that does show he cares, even though it is not your cup of coffee. lol. I am not much of a coffee drinker, but I enjoy my cup of tea, and I do drink it sometimes in the night when I am very tired. It revives me, but does not make me sleepless. I think anything mixed with hot milk like Horlicks, Bournvita would help you to relax and sleep. I am acatually a very poor sleeper these days. I am awake half the night and a very light sleeper. Since the last few years this is happening, and I just take it for what it is, what cannot be cured has to be endured. I have never tried sleeping pills as they become addictive in the long run. Big hug to your son.

I never drink coffee at bedtime. I always have a glass
of cold milk, not warmed, ujgh I hate warmed milk, but
icy cold and I sleep quite well. It actually does help
me to sleep better as I have lo blood sugar a lot at
bedtime and need a snack to raise it. milks perfect
for raising blood sugar levels.
