My Favorite Fish To Catch in New Brunswick

I have been hooked on fishing since I was a guppy myself and hope to be able to fish well into my 90s. That would be great. I fish in New Brunswick where I catch, brook trout, chain pickerel, smallmouth bass and Atlantic salmon. They are all great fun to catch but I have to say that my favorite fish to catch is the Chain Pickerel. The Chain Pickerel is like a Pike and they like to ambush their dinner by hiding in the weeds and then violently attacking passing fish. Knowing this I like to get my float tube and get close to the weeds. I use top water baits so that I can see the action. When you see a huge V coming through the water you know a pickerel is about to smash your bait but it's tough to keep from yanking your line too soon. Other times there is no warning at all, they just explode on the bait almost before it even hits the water. Another thing the pickerel does is follow the bait all the way back to me and just as I go to take the bait out of the water they explode. This does a couple of things. First it scared the crap out of me, which gets me laughing and second they soak you with the big explosion. I love it. What is your favorite fish to catch and why?

I like fishing for Rainbow trout. While I lved in Central Idaho, Igot hooked on trout fishing on some of best rivers in the country for that type of fish.Usually these are stocked by a hatchery. However there are areas that are catch and release that have the native fish, which are more fiesty than the hatchery type. I don't flyfish but use a lure,it takes awhile to determine the type of lure they're biting on, but once you determine the one thier looking for your in for a great day. The largest I caught was 26" and weighed just over 3 lbs. a real beauty! Got a pic and released it back in to the river, on light tackle it was a chore to land it! Have a gret day! tdemex

Fly fishing is a lot of fun but when you first start out it can be a pain if the conditions aren't just right. The bank behind you can be to steep making it hard to get a good cast or the trees can be just too close to the water to get a cast from the bank. If you can get in the river you usually will have a much easier time casting. Fly fishing becomes very addictive the more you do it until some will not do anything other than fly fishing. I am one of those that love to fly fish but I also enjoy getting my spinning rod out for a good time. We have rainbow trout that come up the rivers but I have never been able to get to a river with them in at the time they are in it. :) Someday I am sure I will catch one. I did fish a river one day that I had never fished and I was catching brown trout. That was a real treat as I didn't even know brown trout came into this particular river.
