Does your husband ever buy anything for himself?

My husband and I have been married going on 13 years this month. Off the top of my head I can only recall two things he ever bought just for himself. A Bowflex (which he promply hurt himself on and gave it back to the guy). And a tattoo, and then he only got half of that. One of those things around the forearm. He only got the front half even though he wanted it to go all the way around. He will see to it that we everything we need and most of what we want, but he never really does for himself. I try to see to it that he has some of the things he really wants. But he always puts himself on the back burner.

my husband won;t buy anything for himself. because he don;t want to waste money. he hardly buys just 4,5 pant shirts in a year. i will only force him to buy more clothes. he will take me out to buy my clothes, takes me to dinner outside ,but he is like a miser ,in buying his clothes. he will buy cheap clothes and adjusts with them only. otherthan clothes ,he didn;t buy anything for him. he just bought one or two things for his parents as we are in other country.

Hmmm, It's kind of sad when they won't buy things for themselves isn't it. Within reason I mean. Do you ever buy his clothes for him? Have you ever bought anything for him that he wanted, but wouldn't buy for himself? If you did, how did he react? My husband won't really buy for himself like I said above, but when I get him something he smiles like a big kid. Maybe they think they are the provider and feel guilty when they buy for themselves.

My husband is like a big kid. He see's it he wants it he gets it. So guess yes is the answer to you question "Does your husband ever buy anything for himself?" I'm the one that doesn't but then again I hate to shop. I'll look at stuff and even pick up something and walk all over the store then put it back. He gets mad at me sometimes and even makes me get it. shrugs.

He's pretty good about making sure things are taken care of before he goes on a shopping spree. smiles

My husband doesn't have that problem. If he wants something he'll buy it, if we have the money to do so. Granted, he usually discusses it with me first, but then he'll go get it! Heck sometimes, though rarely, he'll even pass me up and get what he wants if he wants it badly enough. I'm more like your husband and put myself on the back burner. Though I have bought some things just for me before, but it is rare. I'd rather spend the money on necessities and the kids.

I mentioned above that he did get some chickens, and I'm glad of that. I'm like you, I don't really by for myself to much either. If I do, it's little odd and end things. When I buy for the house, it's like I am buying for me.

Every once in a while my husband will buy himself a video game or a magazine. Outside of the occasional pair of pants though he doesn't really buy to much for himself. I don't really mind him spending money on himself from time to time... I mean he deserves it.

I do too. I think it's real important that they buy just for themselves sometimes.

No!! It annoys me at times.. We actually fought about it a few times, he keeps getting me things, but he always do not get things for himself. In the end after those few fights, we said that we both will not buy anything for each other and talk about it first.. Sure, I like that he buys things for me, but he forgets about himself and I do at times buy things for him, but he's just a really simple guy and don't really want things.. which sometimes sucks. But it's good that we do not get anything at all, so that we are able to save for a rainy day. :)

Sorry it's taken me so long to respond, I haven't been in myLot for along time. I think my husband is like yours, he's a simple man, he wants aren't great. Over the last few months he has bought some chickens to mess with, he likes having fresh eggs and watching the baby chicks grow. We're going to take the old greenhouse/aviary down and move it toward the back to make the chicken house bigger. It's a project and he's happy.

My husband's like yours, SusanLee - he loves to buy things for me and the children, and gets far more pleasure in making other people happy than in buying things for himself. Every now and then he'll buy himself some computer bits and pieces, but if anyone in the family mentions they'd like something, he goes into a 'search and find' mode, and researches the item until he gets a good deal on it! I think it's the thrill of the chase he enjoys most.

My husband over-induldges our son I am afraid to say. If he wants some new vidio game, he gets it for him. I am not sure where the cut-off place should be. I have two children from my first marriage. This in my husbands only child and I hate to deny him buying things for him. (my other two are grown and gone, and thier step-father will do anything in the world for them) My husband is a bit different from most men I guess. He takes care of buying all the clothes for our son, all the doctor appointments and stuff like that. At first it really bothered me because I felt like he was wandering over into my turf, but then I realized there aren't many men that take that much interest and joy in doing these thing with and for their children. So I left it alone, I did it with my first two, this is his only child so let him have this time. But I watch my third child close, at the first sign of 'spoiled' I'll pull the plug on the whole thing.

Fishing stuff can be bought along and along and really be a good investment without going broke. I bought my son some fishing stuff one time, it cost a little bit, but he still has it and it can be used for years.
