Ladies, do you like power-tools?

The older I get the better I like power-tools.
Right now I have my heart set on my own chainsaw, something big enough to get the job done yet small enough for me to handle.
I want a good vice to so when I need to I can clamp it down real good and sharpen the chain.
I have slowly taken over the few tools my husband has.

I don't know about a chainsaw, but I would love to have a power drill. They are so useful for things around the house. My sister got one for Christmas from my parents and I told my mom, next year it's my turn!

I've used just about any power tool you can imagine. Hubbs and I work on projects together around the house and I grew up around mechanics and home renovations since I could walk. I was also very much the stereotypical "tom boy" growing up and loved shop class.

*lol*
I have the same attitude. I can't seem to get hubbs to do it when I want it done so I might as well do it myself and get it done when I want it to be done. I have to give him credit though, he works 12 to 14 hour shifts as a sub-contractor in the towing industry and still finds time at least to cuddle and play with his children and that take precedence over house renovations or repairs.

I've always been leary of power tools. Just too much potential for injury if not used with full attention. My preferance is the regular, non-powered tools. They take more muschle power (and time), but then I'm not usually working on large projects.
Once I do get into larger projects around the house, however, I know I will need to start using power tools because of the time factor.

That is so true, power tools can be very dangerous. Actually any tool can be dangerous. When I worked a mobile home plant I can't count the times I fumbled a hammer when working on something over head and bounced the thing off my skull, or jabbed a screw driver in my hand.

I see your point completely about potential for injury. My uncle ended up with over 200 to 400 stitches when he had an accident with a circular saw a little over 2 years ago. Bloody well scared the living daylights out of all of us when it happened. He wasn't paying attention cutting up scrap wood and he ended up slicing his leg up the thigh in the front and narrowly missed major blood vessel but unfortunately will be unable to heal completely from the nerve damage that it did. He destroyed most of the major nerve tissue in his thigh because of the accident. The safety guard was jimmy rigged (by him) to not come down to make jobs faster (he's a mechanic and renovations contractor) and he was extremely fatigued when he was working with the circular saw when the accident happened.

I'm sorry, I had a chuckle at the last statement because I've watched hubby do that on occasion too! I agree with you, why do we need pink power tools - the regular colored ones work just fine and what is with trying to feminize power tools with the color pink?

I love power tools, i have been asking for the womens drill set for a couple of years but i think that my children doesn't really think i mean it. The regular drill is too heavy to use for long periods of time. I guess i am going to get it for myself!

I use lots of powertools, but I have to say that chainsaws still scare me a little. I usually use bench-mounted saws or table saws that don't have the danger of kicking back on you if hit a knot or something. I have used a reciprocating saw for branches and stuff. I find them a little less intimidating since the blade it farther from your hands and the blade doesn't "self feed" since it goes back and forth instead of in a circle.

Chainsaws are scary, but I would love to have my own. We live in the country and I have all these little oak trees out back that need thinning and I want to use them for firewood.
Sometimes I sit on my backsteps, look at all those little trees, and just think about having all that wood for the winter.
These trees won't ever amount to anything because of the other around them.

I like power tools. My dad is a mechanic and has woodworking power tools, so I've used most of those at some point in my life. Currently though I need a weed wacker that i can handle, I really don't want to use my husbands gas powered one. I'm sure I'd be hurting after 5-10 minutes of that. I saw an info-mercial about one, of course I can't remember the name of it, but it looked like something that i'd really like.
Sometime's I do wish i had the right power tool, just so I could get the job done myself and not have to wait for my hubby to have the time.

Bingo! You hit the nail on the head, I'd rather do it myself too then wait on my husband to it.
I have always used a little electric weed-eater. I don't mind dragging the cord around with me, it beats dealing with trying to get a gas one to crank, not to mention they are no where near as heavy.
Sometimes I will even go to get some of my father-in-laws extention cords so I can reach the very edge of the property. I finally decided to just get weed killer for that. I hate the way grass grows all in the fence line, it doesn't matter how much I cut my grass and weed-eat, it looks scruffy if there is a lot of grass in the fence and it's impossible to get it all with the weed-eater, not to mention it eats up the line.
My little weed-eater cost less than $30.00 and it has lasted about five years so far, I have more than got my money back out of it.
