My Doc. put me on oxycontin40mg ER, oxycodone 30mg 4times a day, and some other meds for other problems I have. Before the pain meds,I couldn't do any activity because of the severity of the pain. Since being on these meds, I am able to at least get around about 2 hours each day and also exercise for an hour. I'm done after that but it's better than never being able to get out of bed or move. Don't be scared of these meds. I have absolutly no "high" feeling with these meds, That's because when you really have pain, the medicine goes directly to your pain receptors and not float around in your bloodstream, which would get you high.So only take these drugs if you are really in pain. I would never go back to no narcotics no matter what anyone thinks.

You can also control pain by knowing what things cause pain in FMS.
www.FibroFix.com is all free. It tells how to test, diagnose and successfully treat all symptoms on a daily basis.

Not really. You must not have fibro. But I also have sciatica, peroneal nerve disease, arthritis, osteoporosis (bones of an 80 yr. old) .OBS,OPD, bursitis rt. hip continues. Ive been at the bottom of the med chain, taking 5000 mg. of tylenol a day. Yoga, hot soaks, ice, stretching ect. and while I believe exercise keeps me going as far as keeping my strength, if it wasn't for my med. regimine, I wouldn't be able to get out of bed to even live a life. I am under the great care of 4 doctors. 2 are fibromyalgia specialists ans totally agree on my medication regimine. #3 is my oncologis and 4 is my pscych. I totally trust these doctors that I have seen for many years.
I still have my days when the pain exceeds the medicine and the fatigue gets me and I end up in bed for a few days to a weeks or more. but I have problems and for the most part I lead a pretty normal life with my meds and my exercises.
I think everyone with fibro is different and also I have been told that mine is progressive, actually one of only a few people have progressive fibro and of course I have to be one of the ahhhhh!!! of well Iv'e had this since I was 21 and am now 42 so it's been long enough that I can handle the naysayers and pessimissts. and I can handle fibro........some times..lol!!

I have Extremely Severe Fibromyalgia, the Overly Acidic version, with Serotonin Cluster of Symptoms.
We've been able to differentiate 4 different versions of FMS. The tests are simple and straightforward. The treatment for each is pretty clear.
www.FibroFix.com is all free. You can print off anything you want to keep handy.
I am glad to help anyone with FMS, and we ask nothing in return. Even the phone calls are free if you want to talk to me.
The truth is setting us free.

I was given Oxycontin for my menstrual cramps, but because I am taking Tylenol 3's for my fibro pain, I had to wait until the T3 was out of my system before taking the Oxycontin. It worked once. The second time the T3 wasn't quite out of my system and I got loopy. The third time the Oxycontin had no affect. I haven't taken it since. T3's work for my fibro pain. I've been on them for 11 years since being diagnosed. I have gone from taking 6-8 pills a day to taking 1-3 pills a day. I can function quite well during the day. I am sure the addition of Magnesium/Malic Acid is the reason. I went without it for awhile and my pain increased. Magnesium/Malic Acid is better than taking narcotics because it is a supplement. Fibromites are severely lacking in magnesium. If you haven't already looked into that I suggest you do.
I'm not saying you should stop taking your meds. It takes years to find out a program of medications, supplements, alternative therapies, and knowing your limitations before you can feel any easing of symptoms. No two people are alike so it takes a lot of trial and error. Everyone who has tried the Magnesium/Malic Acid has had success.
Good luck!
