Ahhh! - I Just Thought of a Solution!

I have heard other people talking about "Old Discussions"and I commented on how I don't like when I want to START a new discussion, but there is already an OLD discussion about the same thing, but it is like a year or two old.
I said that Mylot probably doesn't want to delete the discussion just because it is old, because someone might come along and need that information, but maybe they could find a way to archive the ones that are a year or more old...
BUT, I JUST HAD A BETTER IDEA-For example, I started a discussion about a week ago asking if AVG Anti-Virus is no longer Free. Many people responded telling me where the proper link is to still get AVG 8.0 free, and I got it free that very day and I have been using it just fine for over a week now, and it is forgotten about. However, my discussion is still there, and being responded to by people who see it, and it will stay there.. well, forever, even when AVG 8.0 is done away with and 9.0 and beyond comes out!I think there should be a way that either the person who started the discussion, or Mylot, could click a button that says "This Discussion Has Ended." and no more responses can be taken after that.
What do you think?Would that be a good thing to have? Or doesn't it bother you?

That would be a great idea and maybe down the road mylot will do something like that. Too many times I will come across a very old one as well . Also, sometimes I will have a post idea and someone just has started it . And dang it got many respons!
I say just post and who cares , just word it different .

Yah, I agree with you too. More chances for other users to post discussions and have better fun in receiving responses.

It doesn't really bother me because I just post what I come up with out of my head. If I did, then I wouldn't be getting paid.

Well, like this discussion for example. Maybe a year from now Mylot WILL have some change similar to the one I was discussing.
Then of course I would want to stop this discussion so new people wouldn't think I was being stupid talking about Mylot getting something that they already had.
If it was still here and people could still comment on it, they would be telling me that Mylot does have that feature and they'll be trying to teach me how to use it.
Ya know what I mean?

I think you might run the risk of having myLot decide when a discussion has run its course, not to say that they will cut off any new submissions that trickle in months after the fact and maybe this just pertains to discussions on products. It would mean that myLot would have to monitor the discussion for the duration, they need a "product" topic and they might need to expand it to include computer software in that discussion area. I've started discussions again on a similar topic that were at least 1 year old, I do more research on myLot than posting so that I don't take away from somebody who had the idea first. The problem might lie in the number of responses, if there are 0 for at least 6 months then myLot could send an e-mail asking, or making the decision themselves if a discussion should be deleted. This might free up some space for current to long lasting discussions.
