What fruit do your children enjoy the most?

I find that my kids love bananas the most. When they were babies I would mash the banana up and feed it to them these days, now that they are a little older they love the independance of being able to get one from the fruit bowl and peel it themselves. They also enjoy pears and apples, especially when I stew them for a desert.
Do you keep a stocked up fruit bowl in your house at all times - if so, what are your childrens favourites?

Hi, madebyrobyn. I like to keep a stocked up fruit bowl around my house. My son loves bananas very much. He also enjoys grapes, apples, raisins and watermellon. Today we shared a bowl of black cherries and he loved them too... it was the first time he has had those.

I often say to other mums who ask me how I get my children to eat healthily, 'you have to offer them healthy foods'. They also must see you eating it too! - so lead by example! Its great when you introduce a new food to your children, they look at you in amazement like you have just discovered something wonderful just for them!

It is almost like you were right here in my house today.
I did not want to scare him about the pit in the cherries nor let him bite into it like a grape and risk hurting his teeth. So we approached eating cherries like it was a discovery expedition. It was so much fun and now he really loves them. I enjoyed hearing him tell his daddy about 'discovering cherries' today.
We will be discovering peaches later in the week. He did not like them as a baby, and has shown a little interest in them out of a can. I really want him to have a fresh one before his opinion gets very determined.

Maybe you could try him on nectarines before peaches and tell him that peaches are just like nectarines with their clothes on!
I did this with my son and he went around telling people he ate all his fruit, even its clothes!
I love kids they remind us to smile :)

Watermelon and Mangoes. The mangoes in the Philippines are said to be the best. However, I still prefer the fruits offered in Thailand especially the Mangosteen. :)

I have had lots of passionfruit - yum!
I have not however, had dragon fruit, now this sounds interesting! What colour, shape, taste do they have? Do you know why they are called dragon fruit?

There are variety of fruits offered in Thailand, some are all year round and others are seasonal. Have you tried passion fruit? It's kinda like guava because of its seeds. It's sort of like kiwi aswell... ^^
Has anyone ever tried Dragon Fruit?

hello madebyrobyn I will prefer apple because it has a lot of benefits.as they used to say that An apple juice a day could keep a trip to the heart doctor away.
They also contain no fat, cholesterol or sodium and are a great healthy snack! Apples also contain a wide spectrum of biologically-active, non-nutritive compounds called phytochemicals that contribute flavour and colour plus other characteristics.

Yes apples are very beneficial - but you do have to watch out for the sugar content, make sure you brush your teeth after an apple, their sugar is very corrosive to teeth!

It sounds like you keep your dining table looking lovely. I have not heard about bananas and milk being a good option when you are not in the mood for 'real food' I will have to try this out. Does it actually settle your stomach?

Thats it, who doesn't like watermelon indeed! I have fond memories of these tasty, seedy fruit as a child and have not stopped loving it as an adult. I have passed this love onto my children who really enjoy it - although I usually buy them the seedless variety.

My daughter (11 months) loves her bananna.. she has half of one for an arvo snack, I just break it into little peices and she sits there happily picking up each peice, mushing it in her hands then in her mouth lol.

It sounds like she enjoys mushing it in her hands as much as mushing it in her mouth! Pretty much all children enjoy sweet, soft bananas. I miss the days where a banana kept my children entertained! They are all growing up so quickly!

My daughter loves bananas as well. She loves
pineapples and she loves apples most of all.
Thanks for the reminder, I need to get more
apples for my "baby" this week. I've only got
two left in the house! Mercy me!!! LOL!

My two year old started having oranges when he was three months old. Well nobody believes that he did. He also developed a taste for mangoes when he was only months old.
He loves to eat all kinds of fruit especially he likes the pomegranate.
